Hi there.
I played shock2 up to the command deck of the von braun with almost no difficulties (crashed only 2 times within 6 decks).
But now I figure I have to go down to the ops deck again.
As I entered the elevator that brings me down to the crew quarters on recreation and hit the elevator button the first time the game crashed and i saw some warning icon in the task bar tellng me my virtual memory minimum was too low.
I increased the size of my paging file (from 380 to 1000 megs) , but now each time I try I see the loading screen, the progress bar fills completely within about half a second, but then the loading screen animation keeps playing forever (that circle spinning around the von braun logo). No hd activity, no nothing, just the loading screen with full progress bar.
Athlon XP 1800+, 256 MB Ram, Nvidia geforce 2 Ti

Try load other levels and see if that work, the page file size increase might have something to do with this. If not, then you might be experiencing what I do from time to time; the loading actually never begins. So I just try load it again and again until it loads properly. That can take up to 11 tries. :o

I tried loading other savegames. Loading works fine and I can use the von-braun elevator as i always could.
The problem only occurrs if I try to go back from deck6 to deck5.
Processor & Memory usage is going through the roof while that loading screen is showing. then after about 5 minutes it crashes and cpu/mem usage drops back to normal.

I kind'of helped myself.
I messed around with the savegames and found a file called Rec1.mis in all deck6 savegames that wouldnt let me go down to recreation again. in all other savegames there were only rec2.mis and rec3.mis
So i just deleted the Rec1.mis and guess what - its working now.
All the items on recreation sector a seem to have reapeared or are back where they were when i first entered that deck.
Plus (this is odd) there is a human (no hybrid/zombie kind of thing) standing around is the crew quarters outside th elevator shaft, staring at a wall =)
I shot my way through rec to the elevator and am on ops deck again....
But I just noticed that I missed the overide access card on the bridge, lol.

The MIS files in your savegame folder are just updated level files, when you pick up an item and save, the change will be saved to the level file. Deleting it will of course put everything pack to defaults.
But why Cortez is staring at a wall; I don't know. :o
