A bit stuck on the spirit stone myself. I’m 90% sure it’s in the restricted library. Probably on top of the bookshelves. Just don’t see a way to get there. That’s on Normal btw.

I have a problem with getting into the bookstore:
The front door is locked, the key is probably inside. The only alternate way in seems to be the window on the top floor, but there's a problem with that.
Namely, the window is too high up. If I stand right below it, it's just about within frobbing distance, but only for barehanded frobbing, which doesn't work, since it's locked. Lockpick frobbing, with a lockpick in your hands (and at the centre of the screen), has a reduced frobbing distance, and it doesn't reach the window.
I've been fooling around with a rope arrow shot into the window blinds, but it still doesn't work, because the window ledge is too narrow to stand on, and I only get about 0.05 seconds of actual lockpicking every time I try anyway and fall off (but I know it's pickable, because the attempt produces a single lockpicking 'click'.
There's also a ledge running along the side of the neighboring building (which is how you get into the Mechanists'), but it's too far off to the side, so you can't lockpick from there, either.
The only solution seems to be putting a movable crate under the window and standing on top of it for lockpicking, but A, there doesn't seem to be one in the mission, and B, I suspect it might be impossible to get it up on the roof, anyway.
So, how exactly am I supposed to get in?

It is possible to mantle. As you pull yourself up, keep holding the run or walk button, and that should stop you falling off.

It
is possible to mantle.
As you pull yourself up, keep holding the run or walk button, and that should stop you falling off.I think you misunderstood me. The problem is not that I can't mantle up once it's open, the problem is that I can't unlock (and then open) it in the first place, because the lockpicks don't reach far enough. And you definitely can't mantle up BEFORE it's open: the ledge is too narrow, and jumping at it running doesn't even produce the grunting sound that means you've "caught" onto it.
EDIT: Okay, so I just figured it out. It IS possible to unlock it while hanging from a rope, but you need to shoot the rope arrow at a very specific angle. Try to aim so that the arrow's trajectory is as close to right angles with the window blind as possible, and it embeds itself close to the glass.

Things may have changed in some way, but I know at one point you could simply mantle up onto the sill and pick it open. Then, you had to jump back down to open it since it swings outward, and then mantle up into the opening. It was never intended to be problematic like you're experiencing.

The simplest way of all is to just put a rope arrow into the window frame (or shutter if there is one, can't remember for sure) and just hang on the rope while you pick it open. I always did it this way during testing, so I know it works.
