I usually get around the character limit simply by adding an &nbsp;. This will produce a blank line, unlike empty tags, however.

You have to copy and paste the link into the address bar for it to work, for me anyway.

Hmmm... that image works fine in Firefox under Linux, but FF on Windows doesn't display it.

Firefox on Linux didn't display it. On Windows, it did not display until I had loaded it separately with the link .

Didn't display either with Netscape on Solaris and Konqueror on Linux ;)

Didn't work on Linux+Firefox until I loaded it separately - then it appeared. Didn't appear on Windows+Opera earlier, though I didn't try loading it separately. Having said that, this was the setup that I'd browsed the original site with, and it worked there.

In conclusion, use imageshack instead of image leeching. Especially since it's (http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=extension) so easy these days (at least for firefox users) there's really no excuse.
