Dear TTLG administration, concerning Bikerdude... - by EvaUnit02

You know, and I've seen this MANY times, and on other forums. Those that announce they are leaving, usually come back. Its the ones that really don't give a flying rats ass, they just leave, and not utter a word. Take a break, find yourself, start over again. Hopefully, you'll be back.

I know taffers appreciate my help, but statements like the one above and the attitude of some people just make me feel like Ive wasted my time.
The first part of my post was meant to say exactly what it did - nothing more, nothing less. The second was a joke, obviously. As for attitudes - to be honest I didn't read anything in this thread that was different or worse than the usual banter that goes on in CommChat and probably some other forums. I'm not really reading any of the game forums so if you are talking about Thief or whatever, then I can't comment on that.
But again - why do you care what someone thinks or says about you? You aren't banned, your posts aren't being deleted for no reason, you get to help other people, other people help you and whoever cares, appreciates what you do, so what's the problem?
As for threads not getting stickied - like I said, I don't read the Thief forums, but you can't just start sticking more and more threads as that defeats their purpose. And there already is a FAQ thread - isn't the info you want stickied there? If not, why not try getting it there instead? I seem to remember a thread about those FAQs a while ago and Dave or some moderator said whoever wants to and has time, to update them and send them to him. Even if I'm mistaken, you can still update the thread and send it to one of the moderators - if the issues are indeed common enough, I'm sure they'll include them.
Oh, and editing your posts after someone has responded to them is uncool.

I like the way this thread starts out saying how responsible and mature he is, then he comes in and proves to be a total baby.
It's fun!

Just my two cents:
Nobody can doubt Biker's helpfulness on the forums. I don't think thats at all in question. I think the Admins have ideas for who makes a good admin beyond just helpfulness (though I'm not sure what that is).
Since he's very active, I would personally think he would make a good admin for the tech forums, but its not up to me. I think Dave and the rest of them do a good job of running these forums, so I'm not going to try to tell them their business.
I hate to see anyone leave like Biker (apparently) did, I know how he feels and don't like to see anyone feel like that, even if I'm not particularly invested in the matter at hand. I think it wouldn't hurt to have given him a little more praise even if not a Admin position, because its really not that hard and can go a long way. This is silly I know, the internet is a joke to a lot of people but not others, and risk hurting someone needlessly.
I think that Dave didn't mean any disrespect or insult, he's just been around enough to have his Admin Speak comes naturally from dealing with forum issues, so I really think the drama here is unnecessary.

Yes, that's the standard refrain that comes straight from the TTLG Overlord's Handbook, that one.

I think it's pretty simple, this isn't a business, it's a message board based around a hobby. Biker may be the most qualified to do something, but if the admins don't particularly care for him (which seems to be the case), he certainly isn't going to get any accolades, let alone be allowed to moderate.
That said, if Biker is really interested in helping people, he should just continue to do so and not worry about getting the proverbial pat on the back. Not sure why the opinions of basically a very small handful of people would affect him so much - the community as a whole is really what matters.

Nice for an arrogant, egotistical wanker to buff himself up in this topic. Welcome! :)
I certainly think the faqs need updating and I can't really see those happening soon. It would help a lot with keeping people up to date with what is going on - at the moment there are lots of threads about the same thing and to find out the latest developments you do have to trawl through pages and pages and then are still left a bit unsure as to whether any further progress has been made elsewhere.
Biker is always helpful and does a lot in these regards on the forum however I can appreciate you would like to choose moderators rather than have it forced upon you.
It just seems a bit pathetic how faqs and things can't get updated because of petty fallouts between members and admin. Fair enough that you haven't got time to do such things, but at least let someone in the know and willing enough do them. It would be of great benefit. It could be whoever you like too.

No one has sent me any rewritten FAQs. If they had, then they would have been updated. Please get the facts straight before painting me with the 'pathetic' brush.
As for Bikerdude, it was nice that he helped people out, but I don't believe it crossed any of our minds that he was doing it for personal gain, if indeed a moderator position can be called a gain.
And finally, as for stickied thread requests, you actually have to ask in order for them to be sticked. We don't read each and every post in detail, so a request in a thread is unlikely to be seen. A Private Message is all it takes, and, if the thread is going to help people then it is likely that it will be stickied.

ok, sorry. Other people's posts just gave me that impression, but I guess it's a case of people have posted about it but no one has actually contacted you about it.
