fair enough, the economy does suck and if you're not mid-upper class the system works against you (I tried to get health insurance or use one of the new ObamaCare inventions only to walk away laughing at what huge scam it is).

$10 is a small amount of money. If you're going to complain about spending $10 on a game, then just wait until it's on sale (Steam sales are usually pretty good, after all).

And in the end, it doesn't even matter

Yeah er I'm not actually going to spend money on Dear Esther, ever. The original mod was useless to me due to the lack of subtitles; why should I pay money to experience something everyone else got to experience for free?

Cuz a dude got paid a whole bunch of money to make it look pretty.

Which he recouped in 6 hours because fools, money, etc.

Cuz you know, subjectivity, personal enjoyment...
Hell, I almost paid $10 just to walk around and check out the sites. Figured I'd wait for a price drop first, though. Cuz a fool though I may be, I'm kind of a cheap one.

I played it over the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. For me the writing worked well for the most part; there were some bits that were clunky, but on the whole I liked the allusive style, the parallel strands of the narration, the tone. The graphics, sound work and music also added a lot to the overall effect - and the caves alone would've been worth the price of admission for me. Obviously it isn't for everyone, but it was definitely for me.

I wouldn't exactly call it replayable - it's kinda like a movie (and most other story based things) in that it's best first time around, but there are way more triggerable hallucinations, details and random treats in there than I ever expected - such that I'm still enjoying occasional wanders and finding new stuff and just kinda appreciating the craft that has gone into it.

So basically (
http://www.moddb.com/mods/korsakovia/) Korsakovia is completely unplayable. It doesn't show up in the Steam game list and it makes Steam spit out a shit load of error messages. :/
