Deadly Shadows keeps freezing and locking up PC whenever I read a book/scroll - by MrBosnia

This is a new issue that I've never experienced before playing Deadly Shadows. I've played Deadly Shadows many times on the same PC, and I've uninstalled it a while ago and now reinstalled it to give it a replay, and the issue popped up. About 50% of the time, whenever I right-click on a piece of readable text in-game, the game will immediately lock up and freeze my PC. Not even CTRL + ALT + DEL to bring up the Task Manager works, because the PC seems to be completely dead, forcing a manual shut down.
Like I said, same PC. Also with the latest NVIDIA drivers for my card. The only logical thing so far that pops up in my mind on why this is happening is because of drivers. The last time I played Deadly Shadows was in past version of the NVIDIA drivers, and now I have the most latest ones. This probably has some incompatibility with a four year old game, since NVIDIA probably does not recheck every single video game in existence when a new driver update rolls out.

Hmmm...doesn't sound quite like a dual/multi-core processor problem or the sometime problem of a registry problem from having it previously installed. Sometimes the uninstall leaves the registry behind, and trying to reinstall causes a conflict, but this doesn't sound right, since you can play long enough to find a readable, or look at your map.:weird:

Yea, I'm on a single-core and I've reformatted my PC before the last time I played Deadly Shadows.
