Oh god I thought for sure it would be in a playable state by now. Sorry PigLick. :(
I've got it downloaded and DPfix installed but I haven't tried firing it up yet. Will give it a try later on.
edit: Goddammit it's crashing for me too. At first it was crashing on startup, but I found a fix for that in the Steam Community Guides. (go into the game's "redist" subfolder, right click on PhysX_SystemSoftware.msi and choose "Repair"), but after I got it running I could only play for a little bit before the screen went all gray and it didn't accept any commands. Not even ctrl+alt+del worked, had to restart by holding down the power-button.
edit 2: set compatibility mode to Win98/ME and ran as administrator. Started via DP.exe directly instead of Steam or the Launcher. Game started in windowed mode for some reason but ran just fine throughout the Prologue, but on loading the next chapter I was stuck with a black screen. :/

Still though, it's the sort of game that makes me fall in love with it just from hearing the main menu music.

I love what I've played of the game so far, but after a certain point fairly early on, it just keeps crashing on me no matter what I try. DPfix, no DPfix, compatibility settings, nothing works :(
I had that problem and I had to use CFF Explorer to make the .exe large-address aware. After that the crashes stopped.

Will try that, thanks! :D

My crash has to do with the physx file, but I have tried to repair, re-install and it still doesnt work. What is this CFF Explorer business?

COFFEE
Well the problem turned out to be a previously incomplete install of physx driver so after d/l latest from nvidia the game works!
Just got to the police station without any crashes yet so looking good so far. I can tell the combat is going to annoy the hell outta me, but I am really liking it. Good music too.

Are you using an ATI card? I know in the past I had to grab something called "legacy PhysX drivers" in addition to the regular ones in order to get some finnicky games to work.

Yeh I am using an ATI card. Previously was using nvidia, so drivers for that probably werent uninstalled properly, hence the problem.

I snatched it in the sale as well and just started on it. It's pretty much exactly what described, an interesting mix of moody, spooky, funny and odd... I dig the vibe, even tho I am not a huge surhor fan. Only maybe 20mins in but no crashes so far!
Coincidentally, I also just watched the first episode of Twin Peaks and it's reminding me a lot of it!.
