People still take Edge seriously? For a long time now they've been just corrupt and lacking in credibility as the likes of IGN and Gamespot. Eg they gave fucking Halo 3 a perfect 10/10 and 9/10 to both Modern Warfare 2 and Gears of War 2.

Inside the so called "industry" they seem to. I also stopped considering their word a gospel somewhere around Halo 2 review. (Contrary to original Halo review - made me buy an Xbox and I did not regret it)
But there isn`t really anybody you could completely trust these days, including indies. They all seem to have their own lil` agenda...so a man gotta aggregate and read between the lines.
This particular 3/10 for Dead Island was definitely an attempt at look-at-us-dishing-justice lameassery. Reminds me of their review of Boiling Point - also an ambitious open world few years back from small Russian team. They slaughtered it on the account of bugs - when few months later it got (nearly :) all patched up and the game itself is great.
I like that they still remember there are scores different than those between 6-10...but would like their edginess to express itself maybe in 7-8/10 for ME2 or goddamn GTA IV.

Well, finally reached part 2. Game takes one hell of a right turn. Guns become available - although that typically involves cutting off the arm of whoever is shooting at you. Zombies come in larger hordes, so you don't feel like Conan the barbarian anymore.
I take back what I said about the firearms expert. Act 1 sucks for her, but from the look of her skill tree she'll be flat out broken overpowered at higher levels.
I could rattle on about probably two dozen more things about the game that suck. But you know...I'm still playing it, and have barely touched DX:HR or Dow:SM since I started this one. It's nothing if not addictive.

I'm sure you have a habit of saying that about any reviewer when you encounter a game review that opposes your opinion of the same game.

ok NOW dead island is getting stupid... on ps3 at least.
so on friday there was a patch. only people that played on friday downloaded the patch. among other things the patch reset your trophy progress, started your save several auto saves back, and changed your version number.
the patch is now missing. no one got it after friday so there are two versions of the game. version 1.0 and 1.1. the versions can not connect to each other. no one can do anything to get the patch now.
on the forums people have complained to customer service of the developer and their response is they havent heard anything like it before and we need to complain to sony because the patch is distributed by psn. anyone complaining to sony gets told to complain to the game developer.
fffffffffuuuuuuuu

Glad I skipped this. I won't support a release this mind-numbingly botched.

forgot to post that theres a work around for the ps3 if you happened to dl the patch. you can delete the patch data in your game data utility. you lose your trophy progress again but you can also connect to other people that bought the game after friday. me and my friends are back at it.
