Anything else bright on the screen, particularly near the 3D view (even just your taskbar), will interfere with your eyes' dark vision. I think. Like, your pupils will not dilate as much as they would staring at a completely dark screen.

It is also the case that the game applies your gamma correction settings, whereas the editor does not.

As for this issue, I type "gamma 1.0" and everything looks good enough.

Where are you typing this ? Into the "Command" line in the editor ? "gamma" doesn't seem to have any effect on the 3d rendered window in the editor when I try it...

I made a matlib with most of the textures from the Master Builder Store, mass. Clearing has it on his site. PM him for it. I also uploaded some fabric textures in the Master Builder thread yesterday.
