DDFix troubles... - by LaughingMan008

Hello there. Ive recently come back to the Thief series after a very long absence. Imagine my surprise to see more new patches available that I didn't know I needed. :)
I have a new PC with XP and duel nVidia 8800GTX cards, and was hoping for some help here...
First off, Ide like to say that I think my games are running fine...
More or less like I remember them. I cant see the stars the way they are in some screen shots around here, and the game does seem darker, but it runs without glitches or crashes. I wanted to give DDFix a look, but I can't get it to install. If I use a pre patched exe, it says that my DirectX is out of date...
Which it isnt. If I try to use the installer, it gives that "Unable to find any accurance of DDRAW.DLL in Thief2.exe. Please download a pre-patched exe" errror. I tried the troubleshooting suggestion, and it doesn't work. No matter how many times I extract the files in there. Could it have anything to do with the last unnofficial "patches" I ran? The batch files that stopped the games from running dual core? I don't remember if they had a specific name. Somebody should recall them. I don't care much about widescreen...
Just brightening my game. But when I tried the "Unsupported Widescreen Patch" it wouldn't install either.
Also, out of curiosity, is there a way to patch the demos? I remember the dual core patches worked on them.

Anybody have any more ideas?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I got the same patch to work with Thief Gold and The Dark Project, AND all of the demos. All I had to do was rename the exe's and rename them back after....
But System Shock 2 and Thief 2 still give me the error messages.

Thanks. I had tried those before, but for some reason they wouldn't work either. I re-started and re-downloaded them and they worked fine. :thumb:
