[DDfix] Multicore fix stopped to work. - by 242

The fix somehow stopped to work after I updated drivers for my videocard to Catalyst 12.2, previously I used old 9.3 ones. (winXP)
Now I have to bring up the task manager and confirm 1 core affinity for Thief 2 every time I start Thief. "Confirm" because it's already set to 1 core when I open the manager (only one box is checked), and I just have to click ok, without the procedure my save game won't load or the game crashes soon after loading.
Anyone has any ideas? Don't understand why the task manager shows 1 core affinity, but obviously the game still uses 2 core until I click ok.

Thanks, will try that, but still it's very strange that ddfix' fix stopped to work

Unfortunately, the imagecfg fix doesn't help either - same result as with ddfix' fix.
It works fine with older Catalyst, but doesn't with newer. The game simply crashes when I try to load a save file, or locks soon after I start a new game, unless first I bring up the task manager and click ok in affinity settings for Thief2.exe (affinity already is set to 1 core when I open the manager, so I don't need to uncheck anything). I would use an older Catalyst, but older ones don't keep the ingame brightness setting after Alt-TAB...

If you're running Win7/Vista, then the batch that you'd create for imagecfg would need to be run with admin privileges. Right-click and select "Run as administrator".

The exe was patched correctly, but the effect was exactly the same as with ddfix. The problem is the new Catalyst drivers (at least on my quite old Radeon 3870), ddfix and pathed exe somehow didn't work properly with them, I mean multicore fix, otherwise they worked ok. I had to revert back to old drivers from 2009, and now the ddfix (and patched exe as well) work like a charm again, the only drawback is that the old drivers don't restore ingame brightness setting after alt-tab.
