Thanks to Bikerdude who got me up and running with Thief 2 on a multicore PC, but now I am stuck again......
I can run Vanilla Thief 2 with the widescreen and DDFIX patches, but any FM I try crashes upon the gameworld loading up.
-If I disable DDFIX and Widescreen (by copying back my original T2 exe) then everything works fine, so I know it is not my PC.
-I have tried disabling most things in the DDFIX config file - it makes no difference.
-I have tried starting again with a new copy of the T2 EXE and re-hex-editing it, to no avail.
- The instructions for editing the EXE are straightforward, so I have not made any errors there.
I have a Radeon HD4600 1gig card (if that makes a difference - because isn't it designed for GEForce cards ?)

Have you tried one of the pre-patched exe files listed in the DDFix sticky..?

Thanks.
No ? Can you point me to the thread where the link is shown ?

The links are also in (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) the stickied DDFix thread.
Just under the big red writing.
Though if it works with the vanilla game but not with FMs, it implies that the paths in your darkinst.cfg may be incorrect.

Thanks NV.
My Thief 2 is installed in "D:\Games\Thief2"
My Darkinst.cfg just says:-
;cd_path .\
install_path .\
language english
resname_base .\res+.\
load_path .\+.\
script_module_path .\+.\
This is the NOCD Darkinst.cfg. Is this a problem ??
I CAN run FM's if DDFIX and/or widescreen is not installed - I just have the heinous 'stretched display' - so I don't know if that alters the darkinst possibility ?
The Patched EXE links says they do not contain DDFIX (etc) and you still need to patch them yourself - so what are the prepatched EXE's actually patched with ??

I plonked the new EXE in the T2 folder, ran it, tried to start an FM and it crashed like before.

They don't come with DDFix.dll itself, only with the modifications to the exe files to make them use DDFix.dll.
DarkInst.cfg looks fine.

The new EXE picks up my existing DDFIX because it loads up in 1920x1080 (as set up in CAM and DDFix.cfg
I just wish I could work out what causes the game to crash when the game proper starts. It also does the same with the IMAGECFG core fix program too.

I tried again with a clean install.
Now the Widescreen utility - the one where a DOS style box pops up and you enter in your resolution and type '100' for FOV - says that my spanky new Thief2.exe file is the incorrect size and refuses to patch it :-(
I didn't NOCD it, it is totally clean.
All this stuff is just weird, it should all work shouldn't it.
EDIT - tried with another copy, it patched T2 exe file but then restored the original back because it couldn't patch sodding Droed (like I care about Dromed !). Grrrrrrr

Switched back to the previous fully hacked up EXE that I backed up - that have been edited with NOCD, DDFix, Widescreen, and Imagecfg.
Before the game crashes, I get a very brief view of the game where the screen is all hideous neon colours - like in Dromed when you don't add 'that line' to your INI file.
