Surely whether or not someone is an atheist depends entirely on your definition of deities. If you replace 'god' with 'the universe', I suppose I'm basically religious.
replace it with "John Coltrane"

Whether Einstein was an atheist or not is irrelevant*, anyone who trots his opinion out as a definitive argument that will "embarass" someone still fails spectacularly. Just because he was clever at physics doesn't make him an unfallible authority on religion, and there's no reason to put him on a pedestal over all the others who have pondered the question throughout the years. If you believe otherwise, you're simply wrong.
And if you actually do know better, and still trot it out in an effort to humiliate those that don't you're a humongous cock that should be beaten with a rubber hose.
*OK, so it makes someone extra full of fail if he actually held the opposing position.

Always a pleasure to embarass intellectually inferior atheists by quoting classics.

This is precisely the kind of cynical nihillism which arose when the post-modern society killed spirituality by materialism, but forgot to fill the vacuum with positive humanism.

What Morte said so far doesn't really motivate me to respond in a highly sophisticated, intellectually humiliating manner. It is quite time consuming.
But then I'm glad someone turned a mere quotation into another internet affair. Social debate over metaphysical questions never hurts. ;)
