You do realize that your contempt for the parents doesn't translate well into compassion for the child? Which I thought was the whole ethical/non-religious angle on being pro-life in the first place.
Who cares about the kids? Those dirty, dirty sluts have to be punished. They're just collateral damage.

No fett, it's about punishing people for having sex. Duh.
RavynousHunter on 21/2/2009 at 23:21
It's about punishing people for having arbitrary amounts of unprotected sex and not expecting there to be any consequences for being a bunch of ignorant twats. Think about it, if you fuck up and get a $75,000 loan for a house when you work a 9-5 job making only $20k a year and plan to live by yourself, you get financially fucked, lose your house, get a tad hungry, and probably somewhat suicidal and drug dependent.
People are treating abortions like a bloody quickload feature for adult life when they should be taking responsibility for what they do like one of those rare things known as a responsible adult.

don't people know that sexual intercourse is the leading cause of pregnancy in the united states
fett on 22/2/2009 at 01:12
RH - exactly what type of parents do you imagine these people will turn out to be? I mean people who want an abortion but are forced to have the child as punishment for their actions?
I'm just curious. Think really hard before you answer.

Is that an example of a strawman argument? Preventive thinking before an action, heedful of natural consequences, was the point. Is it possible to have these arguments with a fresh perspective, without defending to the death the right to be stupid at multiple persons' expense? A moment in time between two people with near-absolutely predictable consequences that are so unwanted?

OH MY GOD PEOPLE - I'M ASKING WHAT HAPPENS TO THE KID. THE KID! THE PARENTS HATE THE KID BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT HIM. IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH?
Great - you've punished the parents by making them have this unwanted kid, but then what kind of life does the KID have because of it? Should the KID have to suffer not only because of the parents crime but also be forced to be the FOCUS of that suffering? If they were stupid enough to get pregnant in the first place (man and woman) is forcing them to have the child REALLY going to change them into responsible, mature, loving parents and members of society? Or do you think JUST MAYBE they'll be resentful and take it out on the child?
It's like trying to explain water to Hellen Keller for fuck's sake...:tsktsk:

I think you're doing good here, fett. Keep it up, they might get it in the end.
By the way, it's not like women usually treat their body like "a bloody quickload feature" as RavynousHunter suggests.
An abortion isn't fun you know. It's both physically and mentally stressful enough that most women will do everything to avoid it.
Prevention education can help that.
Maybe you should just leave this matter up to the people who are actually concerned.

You're missing the point Koyla. They're still having teh SEX.:nono:

And if the girl got pregnant while having... Responsible, protected sex..? Condoms break, and accidents happen.
Oh, right. She was still having teh SEX.
