And to all people who say that God is a mental illness, tell me this: did you ever have to be taught as a child, how to lie or steal? Are these things mental illnesses too?
Let's see:
Stealing- Stealing is wrong. You hurt people. Don't do it.
Christianity- There's this cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father who will (if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically accept him as your lord and master) remove an evil force present in humanity because a woman created from some guy's rib bone ate an apple from a magical tree because a talking snake told her to. And by the way, if you find anyone who isn't Christian in a town, you must burn it and everyone in it to ash (Deuteronomy 13:12-18).
Which makes more sense?

I kinda doubt that. Considering the fact that Deuteronomy is, like, part of the Torah and all.

The one before it is pretty harsh too
6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD

Read it for yourself. While it doesn't specifically state Christians, it says that if you find anyone in a town who worships other gods, you must kill everyone in the town with your sword, then burn the town, then gather all their possessions and corpses and put them in a pile and burn
that too. A little harsh, don't you think?
Edit: Here ya go, from the KJV:
12 - If thou shalt hear [say] in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
13 - [Certain] men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
14 - Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, [if it be] truth, [and] the thing certain, [that] such abomination is wrought among you;
15 - Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that [is] therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
16 - And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
17 - And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;

No one argued that you dolt, suliman just stated that it can't have been Christianity since it wasn't around then. Sheesh. Learn to read.

Perhaps an understanding of the full meaning of what it means to be a child of Belial would give insight into why such an over-the-top punishment was commanded? Not to mention, the whole concept of a little yeast spreading throughout the dough? One might think God is above jealousy, but apparently he can't stand it when his creation ignores him, forgets he exists, and prays to statues they carved from other parts of his creation, rocks and would, etc.:erg:

Thanks jtr7 for bumping this thread, otherwise I would've missed this gem that says it all in a nutshell:
