[XPSP2/VistaU64SP1, coreduo8500, XFXGTX (SLI), 3gbRAM, XifiCreative]
hello,
I've just reinstalled "widescreen patched" TG and T2, DL4.3: T2 works perfectly, TG works only stand-alone or launching original missions only in DL: there I can install fan missions, yet they crash upon entering the main screen
if I perform TG optimization in DL, then TG crashes also with the original missions (if I restore a backup copy of the freshly installed TG folder, the original missions are available again...so it looks like a DL issue)
as I've been missing Thief gameplay since a few years...did I miss any fix that has to be made?
thanks

I overwrote ThiefG ddfixed exe file over ThiefG stock .exe: now I reach the main UI, yet in windowed mode (I cannot toggle to fullscreen), then the crash happens again whatsoever ....

The fixed .exe on its own won't do any good, you need to actually install and set up DDFix itself, too, by extracting the DDFix.dll and DDFix.ini, and making the appropriate changes to the resolution settings in DDFix.ini and cam.cfg.

I've ddfixed TG: the original game now works normally in full screen, but Darloader keeps on crashing fan missions just upon entering the main screen (yet now reverting to original story restores a working TG  )
after ddfix: is it supposed to be normal to have the gameplay running at the desidered 16/10 resolution, while the main screen is displayed in 4/3? (cam.cfg setting is set at desired 16/10 resolution ... that won't happen before ddfixing, using widescreen patch only...not a big issue :) )

Sounds like your TG install isn't optimised. There shouldn't be any .crf files in the root of the Thief folder, they should be in a Res subfolder, and the paths in install.cfg should be adjusted to reflect the change.
No, it's not supposed to stretch the menus out of their proper aspect ratio.
This is a feature of DDFix. Stretched menus look awful.

optimizing won't do the trick :eww:
I have plenty of .crf files in TG root directory! (12), yet the same files are in \res directory

I made it: the "resname_base" command was missing from install.cfg
thanks for the supporting hints
