But Skip's on a mission - he's just completed the cover story for the next issue of CGW: a look at Ubisoft's upcoming FPAG (that's "First Person Action Game"), Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. The game sounds sort of like Oblivion, but maybe with smarter, more fun combat. Don't judge it too harshly from the footage--it looks like it's running pretty choppily. Still, Skip saw the game in its native land (France) and was impressed. We await a demo we can get our hands on!

Pretty awesome movie!
Well, the clips of DM in action, I mean, not really all the silliness surrounding it.
And to all those people bitching about T: DS - it's got rope arrows.

This is gonna be like Thief 4 :)
But with visceral action-packed melee combat, and funky spells... So not a
lot like Thief, then :)

aaahhw, sorry   How the site was a french gaming news site I though those would be allowed. I mean, that was a 'normal' newsbit there... I won't do that again :thumb:

Yeah, no worries. I did a quick google translation of that French page and from what I could gather, it seems that they may be exempt from those particular copyright laws there.

I really hope they keep that gritty feel from Arx Fatalis since that's what did it for me. Gritty in that the graphics are very dirty, detailed and gritty. I loved it.

There seems to be a lot of stealth elements. The videos I've seen include you sneaking up on an orc-like guard and grabbing him by the neck and plunging a knife in it. Also that screenshot above, with you hiding high above the enemies with a drawn bow - again, very Bonehoard :)
Very much looking forward to this.

But that's up to you isn't it? You don't have to engage into melee/magic combat if you don't want to?

True, but it still sounds nothing like Thief to me, even you you try to use stealth throughout.
