Chief;2503688']I had the issue where no textures were loading at all for any map/model, the versions I tried are the 20th Anniversary and latest 069 RC versions.
I looked at the debug file and saw it wasn't finding the .crf files (even though the paths it was searching were correct).
The debug file showed it as also trying to find the files in its own Data folder, so I copied and pasted the .crf files to that, and now it works as expected.
Hopefully this helps anyone else with the problem :)Thank you for your feedback! Could you please email me your model with textures that program can't find to toforce@ya.ru ? Also, can you tell what full directory path that model has? If you be quick enough, I might be able to fix this issue before the upcoming release on next tuesday ;).

It wasn't a custom model, it was every default mission and model from Thief 2 - this was using the x64 .exe
I just noticed, looking at the old debug file, that it was looking for the .crfs in:
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\thief_2
But the .crfs it was looking for are actually in:
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\thief_2\RES

Ok, and where your dark_engine_viewer_x64.exe located?

Since the readme said it could go anywhere, I just extracted the archive in the normal Windows Download folder and ran from there.

Can you check the DARKINST.CFG file in thief_2 directory? Is it there? What path set for resname_base line?
I can reproduce problem with no textures and no models at all when loading mission, renaming DARKINST.CFG file in Thief 2 directory before. Did you experience the same issue?

I've just checked and the darkinst.cfg file has all the paths to C:\Program Files...etc. so not to the actual folder the game is installed to.
I see there's also a STEAM_DarkInst.cfg file which uses relative paths such as:
resname_base %INSTALLDIR%\RES

Well, it seems that we've found the cause of the error. You can fix this paths and write correct values there, because original Thief 2 can't work with wrong confuguration too.

As it was a fresh reinstall of Thief2 I hadn't yet bothered to launch the game, looks like first launch updates the DarkInst.cfg to the correct paths (presuming this is some steam modification).

Yeah so, I saw you throwing around objects that acted more like a modern engine collisions. I was wondering about this! Awesome!
