I have an original Terra Nova disc, but when I tried to install the game this evening I encountered a read error for the \speech\resbrk07.res file. Subsequently the install aborts, so I don't know if more than this particular file is unreadable. (It's very irritating as the install is all but complete by this stage.)
I know it's a long shot, but, could someone please help me? I'm not pirating, I would just really appreciate the file(s) that can no longer be read from my copy of TN.

Many thanks, Drat.

Don't worry about pirating or whatever. The only people making money off LGS games today are people who didn't make them, and therefore don't deserve the money. On top of that, are all but impossible to find in shops. Most ARE impossible to find.
The one exception to this is System Shock 2. It was made by Irrational (with some help from LGS), and it is still being sold, and they are still around.

While I must disagree with Drat's general assessment -- Eidos at least were very supportive to LGS, AFAIK, and certainly should still receive support via sales of the games published through them -- I see no issue at all in the case of the games that LG self-published, of which Terra Nova was one.

Well, at least the Eidos published games (FUII, Thief, Thief II, from memory) aren't available from that site.
Though let's not forget how "supportive" Eidos were running up to the release of Thief II. I know LG's collapse was because of a multitude of problems old and new, but Eidos didn't help matters. Especially when they were so happy to pour more money into Ion Storm for a game that was three years delayed at that point.

In hindsight (concerning piracy): I have an original copy of the game, which means I have an original licence to a copy of the software known as Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri.
From what I understand of game licences, I am entitled to a single copy of this game -- whether it is an original disc or a copy -- because I've already paid the licence-holder for one copy of this game.

Rossi: Oh, absolutely. You have nothing whatsoever to worry about :)
Drat: Eidos' actions wrt Daikatana were idiotic, and were a significant factor of course, but they were not maliciously directed towards LGS in any way. A company makes a bad decision and it winds up affecting other parts of their business; it probably happens all the time.
I think that as publishers go, Eidos were pretty good, all things considered. They backed what was a fairly out-there idea, and gave it good advertising to make sure people knew about it. Frankly, a fairly unlikely pair of actions in the modern game-development climate.
If you want to punish one of their publishers, I heartily recommend EA for the horrible horrible way in which they handled the superb "Flight Unlimited 3".
