Some crates are filled with random loot, some aren't. Once you enter the cell with the random loot, then the loot is determined and will stay the same. But if you save it outside, go in and check, then reload and go in again and check, the loot will be different.

I thought he was gonna be a big dragon or something. he was easy to kill! i just broke the heart and he fell in the lava. he didnt even put out a fight.

Is it just me or did any of you not wann kill Dagoth Ur. I agree he was easy to kill, but i didnt want to kill him. He wasnt that insane. Although he did possses your dreams and all he wasnt that bad. It's not like he really ever did anything except send the occasinol ash zombie after you. Also i was disoppointed that you couldnt get his head dress once you killed him.:(

i killed him again this morning. well, i made him vanish. but right after i did, i disposed of his corps like a split second after, and the doors didnt open! i had to go in the corner by the door and jump through the wall! after 15min. and a ton of getting stuck and re loading, i finally got through. can you actually join him? i killed him hand 2 hand!

The official plot reason is, I gather, that he originally planned to offer you a place by his side (hence comments by Dagoth Gares and the Ash Vampires to that effect) but by the time you actually reach Dagoth Ur, he's changed his mind and wants it all for himself. Greedy bastard. Not sure how that stands up to scrutiny, though.

I do agree that Dagoth Ur is easy. I only had to use my new spell called nuke. It takes about 210 magika, but it is powerful. It does 50 point fire damage for 30 sec, poison for 120. Anything within 50 ft. of the spell would get desinagrated. That is what happens
i.e. Balmora and Suran. That was easy to do

After the 1st meet with him I didnt have to kill him. Whenever he appareared after that the Morrowind AS (Artificial Stupidity) kicked in and he backed into the lava pool below.

He should teleport back up as soon as you start attacking the heart. That's when you're bombarded with spells.
