This is for anyone who's had trouble with the invisible quest items/characters bug (and who hasn't), and, like me, doesn't like sacrificing 95% of their system resources to DOSBox to make their P4 run like a 486.
All you need to do to eliminate the bug is run the game on a FAT32 partition - NTFS seems to be the source of the problem. You could either add a FAT partition to your drive (although if you already run NTFS, you'll need to reformat completely, add the FAT partition, then NTFS - too much hassle), or do like I did: get a small secondary HD, format it as FAT32, then install the game to it. If you've set up the game to run without the CD, you can just drag the folder to the new drive (be sure to change the taget path in your shortcut).

File system doesn't have anything to do with it. A Bethesda tech support employee told me it was because the game tries to use the same memory range for those quest items as your graphics card. But since your graphics card is already using that range for something else, it's unable to make them appear. Well that was the gist of it anyway.

This is exactly it, and its funny because that's about the samething for System Shock 1 too. I really should write up a guide on how to run Daggerfall without DoxBox.
But since I don't have that sort of time right now I'd recommend going into ShockGen and searching for SS1 Install. The main thing is, you need the NOLFB.com within a batch file to even run Daggerfall outside DosBox. Once that's settled then grab VDMSound, set that up, and set the memory for DAGGER.exe to max for everything. It should work then.

Have you patched it? if not check UESP for patches.

Well it not that great playing it, it alittle strange ol' game back there.
I doubt if i ever play it again. :(
So many games and girls to play with but little time to choose. :erm:

A hardcore gamer would choose games, and the other would girls. However, a true master of gaming chooses both and lives in equlibrium with both options. I hope to reach that point one day. I'm on that path too :)

All i can say is games can calm you down (depend on softwares/hardwares) and the ladies just make you HIGH, sometimes drives you crazy!
