Title pretty much says it. Seems in my copy of Daggerfall Water was replaced with fast-binding cement. As soon as i enter any spot of water i cant move anymore at all. Float-up, float-down, left, right, etc, nothing responds anymore. This is even more annyoing as im now in a dungeon wich would require some swimming to make process (i avoided swimming so far because of this) :grr:

That usually happens because your computer is too fast for it. :)
Try a slow down program, or run it in DosBox and that should fix the problem.

DosBox gave me some shit with the CD-Path i hadnt the nerve to be bothered with anymore so i used a Slowdown programm and was indeed able to dive up and down afterwards, it even fixed the monsters "dance around funky in one spot" problem...but im still not able to move forwards, backwards or to the sides inwater. What the hell...

:o
Is the issue maybe related to that i only have 5% Swimming skill? Do i need to have some significant skill do be able to move at reasonable speed or even at all ?
EDIT : It is. Used the Speed-Cheat and was able to paddle around happily like Flipper in his best days. Meep.

Another question :
What do i have to do to climb exactly? The manual states simply "Run into wall, after a few seconds you go into climb mode, then hold mouse button" but that aint correct obviously.
I got my stats boosted and all Win XP Problems eliminated, but still cant climb. The nearest thing to climbing i can do is walk to a wall, run-jump into it till i get a slight boost upwards, the "Climbing Mode" message appears for a second and i drop down again despite mashing all the buttons/combinations i found in various "How-to-climb" threads/descriptions on the net :p
Ok, carrying Levitation potions is necessary anyways, but i got climbing as a minor skill and raising it by jumping up and down at some wall like a nutjob aint fun =P

"You need more climbing skill!"
Soon you'll be going over the city walls, instead of through the gate... handy for when arriving at night.

I still haven't been able to get Daggerfall to work on my XP sytem yet :erg:
I've been trying DosBox, but it doesn't work. Doesn't play Arena, either. (Though is does play Betrayal at Krondor, which is pretty awesome! But also irrelevant.) Any easy and confirmed way on running Daggerfall on XP?

I got it working under XP without DosBox without problems. This is what i did :
1. Copy Folders INSTALL.EXE, INSTALL.SCR, DATA and DAGGER from the CD to some folder.
2. Run the copied INSTALL.EXE with VDMS -> Setup custom Configuration -> Create from Scratch -> Advanced -> Check "Enable basic VESA support" in the Compatibility Tab -> Finish
3. Then install using the HUGE size (just 500 MB =p) and choose Soundblaster (preferably) for digital and MPU-401 for Midi Sound. This is best done into some simple directory like C:\Dagger or E:\Dagger or whatever - it doesnt seem to like long names.
4. Get Mo'slo from (
http://www.geocities.com/kulhain/) here and be sure to copy MOSLO.COM into your system path (for XP WINDOWS/SYSTEM32). Its a slowdown utility which will eliminate those wacky problems like swimming/movement/dumb monsters (durr?)
5. The next step would be to make a shortcut starting Daggerfall with Moslo. Best use (
http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/u7-win95.asp) this documentation, but ignore the stuff decribed in "Advanced program properties" and the rest, its not necessary. The speed setting is dependable on your system (i got a 2 Ghz and found it best running at 2 percent).
For example : I got MOSLO.COM in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 and Daggerfall in E:\DAGGER so the Command line parameter looks like this : C:\WINDOWS\system32\Moslo.com /2 E:\DAGGER\DAGGER.EXE
6. If it complains about having found no CD check Z.cfg and assure pathcd (the cd path) is correct.
7.Patch the buggy lump of crap to 213 >;D
Hope that helped. If this nerdy crap melts your brain, no prob. You'll get used to it (i did)
EDIT : Oh yeah, i had some funky problems (key assigment, decoration stuff missing) until i copied the complete Arena2 folder over, dunno if thats generally necessary, but if thats the chase its best done before patching.
