Daedric Weapon of your choice... - by Red

After searching the official forum for some help finding a daedric battle axe i came along this -
Quote:
Go to that eggmine south of balmora. Go across the wooden bridge and go almost directly east of the mine. There is a cave there among some jagged rocks sticking straight up. All u have to do is enter the cave but you can explore if you want to. Before you go to St. Olms make sure you have a battle axe equipped. (not in your hand just have it if you pressed equip you wuold equip the battle axe.) Next, go to st. olms canton at vivec and go to the plaza. Enter the haunted manor (dont worry, its not haunted) and unlock the door. There are some picklocks underneath the table in the corner. Go to the noble and talk to him about the cave, starts with a V I think. He will say it has been lost for a long time and will ask you to tell him where it is. Say yes and he will give you a daedric weapon of your choice. (Again be sure to have a battle axe). Say you want an axe and he will give you a daedric battle axe. (This info provided by dagothdoug.)...
Now this sounds...less than true...but i've been wrong before so i thought i'd ask you all for your opinions.
Thanks for your time. :erg:
[EDIT]
This may be a stupid question but a daedric battle axe has more than 16 enchantment points doesn't it - someone on the official forum suggested it didn't and i'm less than impressed?

Hmm.. with the exception that I've never asked for an axe from him so I can't verify Dram Bero gives you a daedric one, and that I don't know that you have to have a battle axe equipped, the above quote is right on the money. Finding the 'lost' ebony mine is the only tricky part.

Hmmm... its an interesting one for sure - I'll check it out later and 'report' back.
If it does prove true wouldn't this be a pretty standard response to someone who asks where can i find [insert daedric weapon]?
I wonder whether he gives you a list to choose from OR he asks you whether you'd like a daedric replacement to the weapon you're currently holding - explaining why you need your chosen weapon equipped...?
Thanks for the quick reply anyway Forsythe; it must be quite late over in Phoenix?

Quite possible; I understand he gives a bow, axe, and I think maybe a hammer and/or sword (I really should look into that)
As to the time, nah, we're behind you; it's... *looks at the clock* Thursday, 11:05 AM here just now.

lol sorry i'm getting mixed up with the time zones etc. ;)
[edit]
what about these directions -
1) go to balmora
2) walk south along the river untill you come to a wooden rope bridge.
3) cross the bridge so that you are walking in an easterly direction.
4) once over the bridge about 200 meters in the same direction (which is east) you will find a cave (the only one around there), enter the cave and then leave it straight away.
or is the cave harder to find than it sounds?

While on the topic of daedric, anyone seen a shortsword ANYWHERE? I have a great collection of ebony, glass, steel, ... etc. But I'd like to finally find what I believe to be my final main melee weapon.
do they exist?
knife.

Well why don't you try this trick out and see?
If that doesn't work I think i may have found a deadric short sword in one of the deadric shrine's in the underworks of vivec - maybe st olms - if you find any sanguine items keep them safe for god sake if you ever consider joining the morag tong.

Red: Took me a bit of wandering before I found the cave, but maybe I was just unlucky.
Red on 25/7/2002 at 18:25
Well if you had some trouble finding it i'm sure i will (lol) i suppose its worth the effort though... (just)

*REPORT*
It's all true! :)
The cave is exactly where it was described to be it is called the 'Vassir-Didanat Cave' . When you leave the bridge it will be directly forward very slightly to the right (there were some nix hounds around that area when I was there).
Anyway as described go to the haunted manor in the st olms plaza go down stairs through the level 50 locked door. Once past the door the spooky atmosphere should vanish and you should take the door closest (as i remember) to the half naked nord. Speak to Dram Bero the dark elf Nobel. If you look in the 'topics' box you will see the Vassir-Didanat mine - click it - he will ask you where the place is and once you've told him he'll offer you some 'compensation'.
Dram Bero asks you what weapon type you use - axe, blunt, long blade, bows, short blade, spear - take your pick. :)
I couldn't be bothered i'm afraid to see what daedric weapon you get when you pick the option where there could be more than one weapon (like long blade) so you'll just have to see for your self.
By the way the cave is worth exploring if only for all the raw ebony (and there are tons of it) at Lv6 all i encountered were a few rats, shalk (giant beetles), and two less than scary flame atronachs.
