8) Hey guys. Am I just an idiot, or is anyone else baffled by the fact that the doors inside Daedric Shrines just "ding" at you and wont open for anything. I'm tearing my hair out because my quests have come to a screeching halt, since I can't get past these dang doors. Specifically at Ashalmawia and Ashurninibi, the doors inside these daedric shrines (even after unlocking) simply make a "ding" sound and and adamantly refuse to budge.
:nono: If anyone else has come upon this huge annoyance, for which I am sure there is a solution, then please, for the love of god tell me before I go mad! Okay... I'm okay... Just need to figure this thing out. It's just so frustrating, there are no switches or anything that I can find, and no indication as to how to open these doors.

There could be an AI standing behind the door blocking it from openning. Try shooting something destructively magical at it and see if anyone starts moaning & groaning on the otherside. If there is, just keep blasting away until they're toast.

:( No I'm afraid that's not it. There is no one standing behind the doors. When you go to try open them, they make a "ding" sound, very similar to the bells inside the sixth house bases. There must be a trick to it though, I'm sure of it.

 Okay, I think I have come up with a solution to this. It would seem that the reason for why the interior doors of the daedric shrines make a bell sound instead of opening when activated is due to a particular mod.
The "A Cool Headquarters" mod that is fairly popular, or at least one version of it, has a script placed on this daedric shrine doors that does exactly that. However, PsiSoldier has graciously edited the mod and fixed the bug, and the fixed version of the mod is available from his site at the following link:

You'll have to scroll down a little bit I think to see the article and the download link, but it's definately there. Nevertheless, though most of the doors do let you pass through, I have still found one or two that continue to "ding." In which case I am not certain whether it is the a bug in the game or if that's the way it's supposed to be. But I did remove all mods and uninstalled and reinstalled the game. And it still did it, so maybe some doors cannot be opened. Then I reinstalled all my mods, and the other doors open now.
Hope others will find this useful as well, assuming anyone else has run into this problem.

Good to know, thanks, mentis; I've never had them 'ding' at me, but then again I don't mod much. Btw, when you uninstalled, did you also delete your Morrowind directory? There's a small chance that plugins (or some other remnant of your troublesome install) were hanging around somehow.

Yeah, I'm going to have to uninstall and manually delete residual files and folders. I have figured out that one of the quests is supposed to take you through a particular door that is still not opening. So I'll have to make sure there is nothing left to screw it up next time.
