This was mentioned in another thread but nothing much really came of figuring out exactly why this doesn't work for everyone...or maybe why it doesn't work for me.
Now, to cover the process.
The installed T3Main.exe must be replaced with T3MainReleaseVersion.exe from the editor and renamed to T3main.exe.
1. Go into SchemaMetafile_HardDrive.csc with a hex editor and change all instances of one of the sounds, say pu_loot, to _u_loot.
2. Then drop the sound you want to use in its place into the sounds folder.
I've done this on two installations of windows but neither play the new sounds. There must be something that I'm doing wrong.
Is this only working on installations where the editor is installed within the main game folder or does it work on the two folder installation as well? I have the two folder installation myself.
The only think I can think of is that this requires files from the editor to work and if I'm going to include this in Minimalist 1.3, I will need help figuring out what might be required to pull this off without the editor installed.
Thanks. I'll keep poking around myself as well. :)

Okay, I've tried reinstalling the game and still have not been able to replace the pu_loot sound with the one from the original game.
Followed all instructions to the letter.
This time I tried a single folder installation of the editor. From what I understand though, I shouldn't even need the editor, just the T3mainrealseversion.exe to replace the default one from T3. :( This is very frustrating.
Are the people who have gotten this to work playing within the editor, or actually playing ingame?
If someone could post "exact" instructions of how they are doing this I would be extremely thankfull. I've been trying to do this on my own for days now. Post screen shots. I could really use the help figuring out why this isn't working for me.

:erg: That is really bizarre. For me, it was cut and try. No matter how many times and ways I tried it, it never worked. It always worked for the mechanical eye sound effect - for whatever reason, a mystery in itself? - but never for the loot sound. Then, Harwin provided us with this new exe and just like that, now the T1 loot sound works.
I'm wondering if the answer lies in the mechanical eye sound mystery. Or, could it be the file format? NH, I got mine from a link here, somewhere, not my Thief install. I can't be sure if the author who posted that file changed it or not...
Hm, now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen anyone else claim to have it working besides me (which kinda freaks me out). *Goes back in and quadruple checks* Yep, it works. As you know, I've got editor and game in one folder, and I'm getting the sound both through editor and game as well (still playing original mission). If you want me to try to again with the instructions (the rather simple ones I'm sure you've already followed), let me know and I'll give it another go.

Very strange Sneaksie. I'm not sure what it could be. I did use the copy from my T2 install, perhaps it does need to be changed to a different fromat or something. Would you mind posting the one you're using somewhere, so I can try it? Perhaps we can solve this and pave the way for others.
Harwin, any thoughts on what might be up?

No where to post it... I'll mail it to you.
