I've made a custom object in blender and ported it over to DromEd using dark exporter 2.
The problem is that the object doesn't have the texture I made for it. It only has the placeholder texture.

If you're using Dark Exporter 2 I assume you're using a version of Blender up to 2.79 but not later.
Make sure the object has a material with your texture selected, and that it's assigned to all faces. Also remember to set the specular shading setting to Phong, which the exporter will detect and assign to the converted object to make it smooth. Or maybe have two materials with the same texture, one 'Phong', the other left at 'CookTorr' (default value), assigned where necessary.

You don't need to convert any PNG textures to GIF. NewDark handles PNG natively.
Also how did you create the texture in the first place if you had to use a web site to convert it to GIF?

For what its worth, paint programs like Paint Shop Pro and IRFanView will save gif formatted files. Gif is seriously outdated though.
