:erm: Mass, you really miss the mark sometimes! lol Tiens just said he didn't like all of this Dark Mod advertising that I'm supposedly doing. So no, of course he's not part of The Dark Mod. He's a member of the Classic Thief editing community.
Why don't to advertize something that are going really cool, and thief relative? :) I hope they will get the authorizations to use the original files too.

Because some people view it as Thief relative. They view it as 'taking away' from Thief. Can't please everyone.

That's impossible Mass, simply impossible, and will never happen. You have to give some thought to these things. The original files belong to Eidos Interactive and The Dark Mod uses the Doom 3 Engine, which is made by Id software. Do you think Eidos Interactive is going to grant permission to have their property used within the game engine of a competitor? Of course not.
Regardless of all that, we've spent the last 5 years creating our own sounds, models, textures, animations, etc...why on earth would we need to use the original files? Anyway, no more derailing..back on topic.

Hmmm... but they still could summon the characters copyrights (hammerites, guards, ambientations), and call your works a plagiary, suitable of law pursuits. So I think it's the same. But I guess that the Eidos people are more open-minded than we think, all this matter is a sure advertisement for their original products.
Of course, without counting the hunders of FM for T1/T2 I played that uses material not permitted. But ok, this is a personal matter, and everyone acts as better as he feel. :thumb:
PS = If Garrett (or the one who are protagonist) can swim in TDM (with proper animations), I would be very happy to start to developing something!

But we're not using any of their content, nor any of their names, and that's a very important part of the equation.

Our main character swims....but there is no third person in Dark Mod, nor is there body awareness, so there is no need for swimming animations.
I don't want to clutter up this thread with this off topic conversation, but your private messages seem to be disabled.

Almost related to both things, but as a simple question of curiosity, does Darkmod (/the engine it's on) have A) a particle editor you can get real-time previews of, and B) does it let you do 3d particles?

Yes. Doom 3 comes with a test map that you can open with the particle editor to view your particle in real time. There you can change settings in order to see how your particle looks in the game world.

No, they're simply one sided squares made of two polygons. Saves a ton on performance and looks fine.
