I think the notes are fairly cryptic, but give you hints on a few of the puzzles you need to get through to get the talismans.
As far as the note about the skulls goes:
It might not be mentioned in the Ramises note because incinerating the skulls is what gives you access to the other tombs after you get the talisman of Ramises..so it might be in another note about getting into the other tombs. At any rate, once you incinerate the skulls in the lava, it basically opens up the rest of the tombs for you to explore, so you won't have to worry about finding a way to leave the tomb area until you've gotten all of the talismans..
As for the force field:
I think it's supposed to disappear once you have the talismans, but it's a bit buggy and never worked for me. I always had to try to get back up the ladder using boulders..tough, but not impossible..
Thanks fornever.....I finished the level last night. But after reading all the papyrus, I still couldn't extract that bit of knowledge from any of them. And thats KNOWING what I'm looking for. Suffice to say, had it not been for this thread, I'd still be down there, insane by now :)
The force field opened for me when I possessed all the talismen. So it was just a dash through and up the ladder for me. Thankfully, because jumping on those boulders is irritating as hell.
I think I get the idea that the spot in the ceiling turns to wood or something, but there are 6 haunts guarding the talisman, and I am just wondering if there is an easier way than: 1. dropping down and grabbing the talisman and 2. trying to avoid 6 sword wielding haunts and shooting a rope arrow into that one little spot in the ceiling then climbing up.
Trying to do all that without being chopped into little bitty bits( these buggers are fast!) is going to be one tough job? Any suggestions appreciated.:wot:

It's actually quite easy when you've figured out a couple of things.
If you drop down to the lower floor just after you enter the balcony above the haunts, they won't react. Then you can sneak up the side, flip the lever to turn the center piece to wood, sneak back down to the end and shoot the rope arrow. Then go over to the left side and creep all the way up to the front in there. If you stand there for a few seconds, you'll push down a pressure plate and activate an arrow trap. You can just stand there in the dark and watch the haunts be destroyed by the arrows, because they all go to investigate! If you're lucky, they'll all be killed, but at the least most of them will be gone. Then you can just run over, grab the talisman and climb the rope to get out.
Once again I am in your debt. Thank You. Sounds like Trial by Night is the next fm to play! Later

I can't get into the tomb of Ramises which is supposed to be easy. Have done everything else for this mission except that. The force field has disappeared even though I am still missing a talisman. Cannot get the locked gates to open at the top of the stairs of the tomb
I used a fire arrow
on the skulls instead of putting them in the lava, if this makes a difference.
Also, am reading Nw's post re
a lever that you sneak up to after dropping down from a balcony into an area with 6 haunts. This lever opens a small area in the ceiling for a rope area. Is this AFTER you get in the tomb or is this the Albumasar Family tomb with the large fountain?

It's been a long time BUT
I think the area you quoted me about is inside the Tomb of Ramases. To get in there, you have to weigh down the two pedestals that the skulls were sitting on. You can use rocks from the broken staircase of pile potions, etc. from your inventory on them.
Dang, thanks Nw! I had tried using the skulls and then jumping on those OBVIOUS pedestals but nothing happened so I moved on.

OMG! It was ages since I played this mission but what you describe, I remember in the smallest detail. YES, I did what you describe, on the first try, too!
Of course, I was a new taffer on the block at the time, and woke up the haunts. I ran around frantically trying to figure out how to get up again. Somehow I spotted that the ceiling had changed and SOMEHOW I managed to shoot an arrow and climb up without getting killed. Probably my best "T2 action maneuver" ever. I still don´t know how I did it...
There is a real easy way to get that talisman and take care of the zombie sounding haunts. This is presuming you don't have the ultimate difficulty patch applied in which case I can't comment.
First thing to know is that behind the pillars on the left and right side of talisman there are some goldish panels. The middle panel on each wall is frobbable. The one on the right facing the talisman has three gold vases. The one on the left has a switch behind it which causes the ceiling panel to slide away revealing the wooden panel you ran rope arrow into. If you stay close to the wall you can avoid detection by the haunts. Once you've collected the three gold gold trinkets, flipped the switch and shot a rope arrow into the revealed wood panel slowly creep along the left wall all the way into the dark corner to the left of the talisman. You will engage a trap that will continually shoot arrows from the second column out. Wait while the haunts stumble around getting shot until they are all dead and you won't have "broken a sweat." :cheeky:
