I've been listening to a fair bit of Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa.

I spend plenty of time wondering about this song.

Quote:
Pay your attention to the details,
that you see in the painting
so you'll see the meanings
and know who you are
now that the night has anointed you
Now it's your time to see visions
now that the night has anointed you
now it's your time to see visions
now that the night has anointed you
In the painting, that you see
you see a crowd
painted in a classical style
but you're standing separately
hidden from the others
the signs of night are on your forehead

I have a rubber crowbar. They only come in handy for making videos.
Anyway who remembers this?

Lately, I've been getting into works by Iannis Xenakis:

Annoying at times, but never boring. I quite like the first one; great buildup and pausing. I think, in general, Xenakis' percussive stuff is the most accessible. The third one gets a little more challenging.
These people I just recently found out about:

Quite accessible, even poppy—compared to Xenakis—but it never gets boring either.
welp everytime i hear xenakis's works it sorta reminds me of early atonal composers from second viennese school , i like these kind of musics but sometimes just don't feel much when I hear them. I fell like these musics are too academic and sound too random , dissonant and unstructured to most people or general audience. I am still in the process of looking more dissonant composers. Late scriabin's works, olivier messiaen's work and roslavet's pieces were my gateway drug into dissonant and atonality
There are other composers in the same vein with xenakis. Pierre Boulez, ferneyhough, michael finissy, feldman, edgar varese, stockhausen, john cage, ligeti, to name but a few.... I Stand Corrected If I Am Wrong :D
i am playing and enjoying these currently :

Agreed. Xenakis (and pals) is a bit like Meshuggah; great, interesting, complex, etc, although I'm not always in the mood for it. Overall, I like music that has the ability to surprise me, either by going in a totally unexpected direction or offering a mood not found anywhere else.

In the mood to listen to these musics today :

and other piano pieces such as valentin alkan - op. 33,grande sonate 'les quatre ages" and kapustin concert etude op.40 no .3

These songs evoked a sudden rush of my childhood memories :
1. The sundays - Here's Where the Story Ends , iirc this music was a part of "blown away(1994)" movie soundtrack
2. stanley clarke - justice groove from poetic justice movie
4. vanessa williams - save the best for last. I remember my dad used to pop a "compilation of pop hits" cassette tape into nakamichi rx series and DR series tape deck. This is one of my favourites
5. Jim reeves - welcome to my world. My dad used to own jim reeves vinyl
6. some fench pop like francoise hardy and portuegese fado music

This one brought a tear to my eye... of laughter. I'll be singing this one under my breath every time I see a Trump flag.
