This is one from my backyard ironically called "Poor Boy a Long Way From Home". It's all stuff I've driven past many times, particularly the stuff in Holly Springs. I learned just this week that the large building, double gable projections in the lower left montage, is being renovated for Rust college. I always thought it was a shame that it was left to rot.
Does Eat Place that looks abandoned is far from it. It's locally famous for good soul food, or as we call it down here, food.

Did you see that Railroad crossing above the road where the road narrows to one lane? That is in Holly Springs and I got a ticket there. The cop was waiting on the other side of it. It was my last day before I went on vacation to the coast with my wife. I was hurrying through my route so I could end the day early and start the long drive for the coast. It was a deserved ticket. I was doing twice the speed limit. That was back in 88 I think. God that was a while ago.

That’s some video, and a
driving good song. I watched it twice. Is Rust a place or a name that's been acquired because everything is rusting? My ignorance is vast. I've heard of The Rust Belt.
(With reference to your thread elsewhere on cars, this video below shows some of the many I never owned. The only two-toned car I had was original colour and rust (!) Although in the mid 70s I did have one with a “Go Faster Stripe”).
Anyway ... knowing nothing about Chuck E. Weiss I bought several of his albums after hearing this track on British radio about 20 years ago, and played it often, particularly driving down empty motorways. In fact I re-recorded it so that the end fades back into the start so I could hear it twice. It came into my head last week and looking for it on YouTube I saw an RIP.
Apparently he died a year ago this coming Wednesday (20[SUP]th[/SUP] July 2021)

I was thinking the tenor sax in the first break sounded a lot like Jim Horn but it must have been Spyder Mittelman although I don’t see him in the credits. He died back in 2000 and the album was released in 2001 so it could be him. Tight band.
After reading (
https://marcidarling.com/2021/07/chuck-e-weiss/) this I understand a lot more about Chuck E. Weiss. It seems you were quite a character. RIP indeed.

Sort of rockabilly thing going on there. If there was less horn and more piano it might even be a Jerry Lee tune.
Rust is a college for blacks established before segregation ended. It still primarily is but there are some other races now. Unlike some of the other black colleges they don't recruit for it though. Delta State offered me a full scholarship to gain diversity but I already had one to Ole Miss and that is home. I was an awful and willful student anyway.
Now this is a hard driving tune with a bit of creepy so it's right up my alley. Does anyone know if the video is from an Evil Dead game? It would fit but I see no Olds 88.

And if you don't like that one here is another Black Keys-

I had been to the Double Decker festival in Oxford a few times and listened to some of the bands and they were okay. Nothing special. This year it was so packed I just stayed home and mowed the lawn. Idiot. This year they had Samantha Fish. I hadn't followed the lineup on Face Book because I've been kicked off. I've posted her stuff here before and would have loved to see her. Might have been my only chance.

Tocky, I know you'd never forgive me if I miss this. Samantha Fish is playing this neck of the woods in a couple of months and I'm doing my best to get a ticket. I'll let you know how the gig was in about three months.

Sometimes, it's great to be old. Very old. And living in a city where your old music heroes will actually tour and play. I can not explain just how much I've longed for to hear Clan of Xymox play live, I've accidently missed them several times, but they were very influential in shaping my adorkable gloominess, and I am so happy I found them. I have yet to actually see them play live, for a long list of reasons, but soonish, they're coming to my town! MY town! They're coming here! On purpose!

I have to get a ticket.
[Edit]
I got a ticket. And there was much rejoicing.

Possibly even better than the first song.

Ferry Corsten, a famous 00's dance producer, is now making more and more ambient type of music. I like this song a lot!

You are correct. I still don't forgive myself for missing her at the double decker festival. This will be a show to remember. She is one badass guitar player.
Also I'm still waiting for the rest of your journey home. I bet a lot of us are. You can't leave it there. Tell it all.
Here is one to remind me of how much I invested in this show. We went on three vacations to Senoia Georgia to film sites and walked the ground where scenes were played out. The shows history became my history. I'll never forget the first time I saw the walls of Alexandria because a guard came out to shoo me off as I was trying to get a picture. We were at nearly all of the locations of major scenes. And you know me. I have to touch things. I have to lay where Merle died. I have to stand where Daryl blew the biker gang away. I've met most of characters. I've told Norman that I sat on his bike. I do things that aren't allowed like that. If it's on display and nobody is guarding then fuck it. I've told Melissa McBride that she is my favorite. I've met Michael Rooker more than once and told him his was the best death on the series. He said it meant a lot to him which is of course bullshit. We fans are just a blur of gushing to them. I've had my picture taken with many. I've even hugged up on Dahlia Legault who is way prettier than in the Mother Dick episode in person until I saw old friends in costume at a comicon. I hope she understood. I didn't mean to blow her off it's just that I hadn't seen them in a while. I did say I hoped her character would get more air time. I have to touch things. I have to break rules. I have to be more in your face than most.
This series cured me of my zombie nightmares. Once the Laurie (oh Christ it had to be a Laurie) character drove a screwdriver through an eye socket as I had done in my dreams it cured me. I had always had them in times of stress before that. The show meant a lot to me. I had read the comics up to the prison although they were damned expensive. I try to support illustrators I like. Anyway this is way more than you will read anyway so...
