Listened to this album, "I've forgotten now who I used to be" by "Witch Camp Ghana", which is basically a collection of field recordings of women condemned as witches and forced to live in exile in camps in Ghana, singing about their lives and what has happened to them. Track titles include "Abandoned (Forced Into A Life Of Prostitution)" and "I Trusted My Family, They Betrayed Me", so it's not exactly cheery subject matter but somehow making music out of their situation is a triumph in itself and the record gives a voice to these marginalised and exiled women.

Yeah, Jim is gone now as is Richard Corben who did the cover art. I never would have thought Meat Loaf would outlive them both. Death is really good at that whole surprise thing.

Thanks for that. I had forgotten how much I liked a lot of those early songs. I got Bat Out of Hell when it first came out like a million other teens. I even got Steinman's Bad For Good and liked a few of the songs on it though he didn't have anywhere near Meats voice. I saw Meat in Rocky Horror a dozen times at the Hoka in Oxford. The critics were always wrong. I stopped reading anything about music in Rolling Stone except to buy who they said not to. They panned Billy Idol for fucks sake. How the hell could anyone not like White Wedding?
My wife and I still sing Paradise by the Dashboard Light to the delight of my daughter when we do karaoke.
I had forgotten how much I liked this one though.
