MitiS has a really cliche sound, but I still really like almost every track the guy puts out. Go figure.

While we're at it, this is what happens when you remix a classic '80s tune as a classic '80s tune.

Interesting how something can remain pretty much unnoticed for more than 30 years and then turn into a megahit and a cultural phenomenon overnight due to a quirk in Youtube's recommendation algorithm.

Track from 1980 about a Berlin that doesn't exist anymore.
Very interesting. I couldn’t work out the nudist roof top message at 1:13 (presumably from West Berlin to the other side). It brought back memories from Spring 68 of how news was transmitted. Walking back to Checkpoint Charlie from restrictive East Berlin we read an electronic scrolling banner high on the other side saying “Martin Luther King assassinated”. West Berlin seemed to emphasize its relaxed nature, right from the border where a GI, feet on desk, casually waved you through, while listening to Lady Madonna on a transistor radio. We later went to see just-released Swedish film
I am Curious Yellow with German subtitles. Unexpectedly Martin Luther King appeared briefly when the heroine apologizes to him for not being strong enough to practice non-violence.

It seems to say "TU WAT" (Do something).

Does *INSTANDBESETZT* at 1:16 mean “do this place up” ? The red star looks similar to the roof-top flag where the nudists are. Perhaps they were squatters.

(
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instandbesetzung) Instandbesetzung is a portmanteau of instand setzen (repair) & besetzen (squat). It refers to a squatting with the declared aim of rescuing decaying old buildings from demolition and making them habitable again. Due to the extensive self-work required, an extraordinary interest in preservation could be demonstrated and legalization was often achieved.

Fascinating. Translating the (
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instandbesetzung) Instandbesetzung page, I see the movement started in West Berlin in 1979, which fits the dates you mention for the video. Danke. :D

My favorite track by Ideal is this one:

I even saw Ideal live once! In April 1982 at the "No Nukes" festival in Utrecht. Don't ask me how young I was at the time. :) It took many years until I finally bought one of their albums. I got 2 albums in my digital collection now. And I do play them once in a while! (I can't say that about all the albums I own). The first album is still fun to listen to.
I love this song not only because of the music. I love the voice/sound/aggressiveness of the singer. And the lyrics. I doubt this song (Hundsgemein) is any fun if you don't understand the lyrics. Sorry.
PS. I liked the clip with the Berlin song. Indeed very eighties. I didn't miss the eighties during the nineties or the next decade. But to be honest, I do start to think more fondly about the eighties nowadays. (
