ah yes Americana, probably the only decent country genre.

I was going to point at alternative country as another ((
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fj2uNu1ikQ) more than) decent country genre, but I learned this is subsumed under Americana too. Anyway.

I went through a solid year of Lorenna McKennit when I listened to little else. It's most beautiful when you are travelling the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Smokies. Until your wife laughs at the line "plaiting a love note (only it sounds like love nut) into her long black hair" in the song Highway Man. I had to laugh too. It does sound like that.
You should hear my daughter sing it. Way better than Bonnie Raitt. I wish she would put it on Youtube. I can link to Facebook but I'm not sure you could access it. Tell me if you can. This isn't even her best but it's all I could find.
Anyway, if you can't hear that, here is some Russian metal.

No, I'm not on Facebook. I tried using a technical account from work, but now it's been banned or something (whoops). So I'll have to wait for your daughter to put her music on a more freely accessible service.
It's a great song anyway. First heard it by Carly Simon (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1T7inj9-CI) who rocked it real good, so that's kind of the original version to me. And it inspired Yoko Kanno's (

Springsteen's "I'm on Fire" is written with a frustrated erect dick. It needs pretty harmonies like an offer to just be friends.
I can see why these nerds would want it, but they managed to sterilize one of the sexiest songs ever.
(
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUNXIt62ZKo) Clara Bond's cover has its flaws but at least she gets what the fucking song is about.
I'm sure the theme of the song wasn't lost on them. You ever had the idea that dressing something ugly up in pretty is also a valid way to interpret how people go about doing things? When it serves to amplify the longing instead of the blue balling, it's still the same song, just in a different key.
I like Clara's cover too, but it's similar enough to Springsteen's that I'd just, y'know, listen to the original.
Anyway, music! July Talk's new album is absolutely beautiful. Here's two standouts.

I had forgotten about this song completely. It hadn't entered my mind for 20 years or more. Last week I was looking through my old vinyl and suddenly saw it. Still an awesome song. I've played this track many times this week. Song of the month for me.

That's the point. Springsteen's expression of male sexual desire isn't ugly. It's raw and honest and beautiful. Prettying it up
as if it was ugly is on the same level of misunderstanding Springsteen as booming Born in the USA on July 4th. It is not valid within any reasonable frame of reference. Mark it zero.
Meute are from Hamburg and play electronic sounding music with brass instruments, (
