Love is dead from Scotland.

Although I can't recommend the album. It's another case when a bit less known band tries to go mainstream and sides with today's "smash hit" producers to make something much more bland than usual. Bones of what you believe is still much better.

I don't think it's a case of them trying to go mainstream per se, as their sound remains intact with the only real change being the addition of a real-ass drummer, which was a good move. The drop off in enjoyability seems to be a matter of running low on gas in the tank. But right after the album dropped, they slapped this song onto Youtube:

And it's almost on par with some of the best on the Bones of What You Believe. Witness dat double chorus.

Yeah that's a banger, Sulph. I did like a lot of the songs on their latest album, but overall I prefer their first 2.

The first two were definitely more consistent in quality. The newest one does have a few I'd put into regular rotation, but yeah, it's a bit of a downer compared to their usual sawtooth synthmode and Lauren's general 'I'm goan fuck you so hard with optimism you goan regret what you did BOY' is sort of MIA.

I wouldn't say their sound remains intact:

Is this some kind of Imagine Dragons knockoff? I agree that their endless tribute to Depeche Mode will probably have to end someday, but I kinda feel they've taken the wrong turn. Very similar situation to Purity Ring, their first album was awesome and original; the second can be a background music for a kebab joint.
