Current Eurovision song you are listening to(or the Last ESC song you listened to) - by dj_ivocha

So on par with my originality re: thread titles, this year's Eurovision Song Contest was decidedly meh. I still haven't watched ESC 2022 (have it on tape so will do it some of these days) :wot: so I can only compare it to ESC 2021, but there are worlds between both, at least for me.
Loreen won, so I guess in the end it turned out OK-ish. But even that song was only "pretty good" and not "great". You know there's something not right when the best bit of the show was the announcement of Iceland's jury points, of which I sadly don't have a video (yet, might get one tomorrow).
The big five didn't disappoint yet again, with Germany getting TRIPLE the amount of points they got last year (but still finishing last), Spain, France and the UK also slumming it with the rest of the right-side plebs (as shown on the final scoreboard) and only Italy doing great.
Anyway, here are some "pretty good" to "I guess it's OK" / "Campy is always good" songs I kind of liked:
Loreen - Tattoo (Sweden)

Gustaph - Because Of You (Belgium)

Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha (Finland)

Let 3 - Mama ŠČ! (Croatia)

Lord of the Lost - Blood & Glitter (Germany)

And now I'm off to the ESC 2021 thread to watch me some 10 Years by Daði og Gagnamagnið and other better songs than most of the ones this year.

I haven't watched in a few years, but of course it was my patriotic duty to tune in this year when we actually had a chance of winning. Man, the last of the audience votes coming in was tense! But yeah, the songs were kinda weak this year, didn't find anything I really liked. Estonia's song was alright. Considering "Euphoria" is one of the all time great Eurovision tunes, Loreen's song this year was pretty underwhelming.
We shoulda won, damnit! At least we got the most audience votes. The people know what's up, even if these dang besserwisser juries don't!

I watched it with two friends of mine, we talked through it most of the time because we hadn’t seen each other for months in real life but while talking we did also listen to the songs. One of my friends is a metalhead and she liked Germany and Australia’s songs, the other one liked Finland’s song the most, she’s into stuff like Billie Eilish. I liked Estonia’s song and I’m a sucker for gospel choirs so I also liked Lithuania’s song. Also Belgium’s song was just really cheerful and upbeat, I liked that one too. Poland was catchy and Israel and Norway were okay too. Italy scored well but that sort of song and performance really isn’t for me.

The Eurovision Village is on my route to work, or should I say was, because they've already dismantled most of it. We get a pretty cosmopolitan bunch of tourists here anyway because of The Beatles, but I don't recall seeing such an obviously diverse crowd before. Everywhere you looked there were people of different nationalities, many of them decked out in national colours. Liverpool is quite a republican place, so it was amusing that I saw more Union Jacks this week for Eurovision than I did the previous week, for the coronation. The atmosphere around the city was electric, and I didn't even attend any of the concerts. Also I slightly want to marry the Israeli chick.
