Carini did obliquely Alinestra. Certainly some people should not and those who can't support them are a prime example whether due to age, income, or mental competence, the child suffers.
However the simple statement that if nobody did the race would end (however unlikely) is no more an attack against the childfree than it is a defense for the child(imprisoned?). I get that if it is said to you out of the blue rather than on a forum for talking about it that it would be putting ones nose where it doesn't belong.
I don't like any implication that having kids for most people is a bad thing though. It works out fairly well for most afterall.
And why couldn't we have the comebacks when I asked for them on page 10? I thought mine was pretty good.:( A little harsh maybe.

You could argue that the birth rate is too low among population groups you favor and too high among others you don't. And then you might have a point. But in a world with >6b people and population growth at a rate of ~1.8%, invoking the potential end of the human race as an argument for having children just makes you look really dumb. Sorry, but it does.

I could argue that if that were the point but you missed it. The point was that the statement which is simple, true, and unlikely is taken as an attack of some kind. Even when it is used as one paradigm of the extreme viewpoints without being directed at anyone specificly.
Just look at how much was infered from it. The defensiveness is fairly bristling.
And if you want to think I'm dumb feel free.
