The point was that the moment I die there will be someone who remembers me.
Well congratulations, have a big gigantic cookie. Christ, I can understand if people want to have kids because it's fun to watch them grow up, evolve, and become adults, get married, maybe even have kids of their own, but this "remember me when I'm gone" shit is just mind boggling. What's is the point - you are dead! I know this is cliched as all hell, but it's supposed to be about the journey, not the final destination.
Wow, this thread is frustrating. So many holier-than-thou attitudes about having children, yet no one can come up with a decent answer as to why they're better than us lower lifeform "non-childreners." :laff:

I can't believe my display of semantic wizardry only managed to attract aguywhoplaysthief; how am I meant to have a child with him? Anyone want to surrogate?

It is up to people if they want children, it is their life. The sad fact is there are children having children. There are mistakes of course then when when it happens over, the pattern follows. There are some who just should not have children, then go on to have many more and say it is their right to claim off the state rather than work.
I wanted children more than anything because I love children but never did.
This article does not make it right. No one knows what will happen when they have children. The Mother died at 69 of cancer does it make it right to allow a Women to have children at age 66. :tsktsk:
Though she did tell them she was 55, that is to me it just too old.

That's because unlike most non-childrenerners here we do not believe we are better. What most of us have been doing is to show our side. It is this YOU PERSECUTE ME BY STATING YOUR SIDE YOU HOLIER THAN THOU TERROR thing which has us stumped.
How is this then- if nobody had children then the human race would end.
To which you reply- that is a bad thing?
And there lies the difference between us (although I put words in your mouth it does seem to be an attitude of many childfree).
I decline to accept the end of man. I believe he will not merely survive but prosper.- William Faulkner.
