It seems that feeding doesn't pass the infection, for some reason. Your look resets back to the basic vampire look every time you feed, and goes up one degree of severity every day beyond the first day after a feeding.
And Lytha, +20 to various skills and attributes plus 20% resistance to normal weapons isn't to be sneezed at! :D

Damn, it makes me think twice about seareching for the cure....
:)

And that's not even counting the spells and lesser powers you gain.

Hrm...
- not being able to walk around when I want anymore
. can't fasttravel anymore, I guess
- looking ugly
- can't go shopping, as the shops are open during the day, not the night
vs.
- some attribute bonusses:
. strength... already at 90,
. willpower... don't actually need it,
. speed... already at 100
- some skill bonusses:
. acrobatics... already at 90ish,
. athletics... well, ok, that's actually useful (perhaps),
. destruction... never used that yet
. h2h... goodness, so that I can't work on my strength training anymore
. illu... don't use it normally
. mysticism... dito
. sneak... goodie! it's already at 97
- resist disease 100%... was at 75% naturally, and I don't get infected while sniping anyway
- resist paralysis 100%... well, ok, that's good against spider daedra
- abilities gained:
. Hunter's Sight - a Night Eye... funky, I'm using Fin Gleam's helmet
. Vampire's Seduction - a Charm... great. IF I have to charm someone, I use my own spell. It's not a 1x/day, too
. Reign of Terror - Silence... ok, probably useful, if the mages wouldn't go down with 1 shot already.
. Embrace of Shadows - yet another Night Eye... amazing.... + Invisibility... which ends if I frob or attack anything. 1/day, too. goodness
Well, that reduces the actual bonusses for my woodelf to:
- resist paralysis
- (Reign of Terror)
I'd take my normal appearance over that, anyday.

You still can fasttravel at evenings and nights :)
Lytha on 14/2/2007 at 11:55
Well, that's at least something. :)
Oh, I ignored the table with the other "bonusses".
- extra weakness to fire... that makes the last few oblivion gates /so/ much more enjoyable, rrright
- small resist normal weapons... I really don't get hit a lot anymore when I can snipe at them and they won't notice me anymore even if I stand right behind them.
- bonus to athletics is a malus, too. The skill won't level much anymore naturally now that it's around 60 (even if I spend nights running into a corner...), and artificially boosting it to 80 won't make the leveling any faster. Just as the Skeleton Key is both a blessing and a curse (if you want to level your skills to 100, naturally.)
The vampire stuff is probably useful for lowlevel characters. My level 2 breton would probably even love to be a vampire at the moment: carry more stuff, maybe actually being able to carry a heavy shield without overencumberance; athletics not leveling so fast...
But my level 25, 5-5-5 / 5-5-1 leveled woodelf does indeed sneeze at these bonusses. :p

It really starts pissing me off.
Those mages never sleep. Ok, there was one sleeping fellow. He was in the locked room of the second floor where I wasn't supposed to be, so one of the female mages started following me everywhere with her silly warnings. When I got very mad about that (I was looking for a chest with the soul gem) I simply came over the sleeping guy and feeded right before the mage's eyes and all she kept saying was "What's going on?" while I drank blood twice :ebil: That was my small revenge for not leaving me alone.
The rest of the mages were awake though it was around 1.00 a.m. and I guess they never really sleep all at one time. Or do they? And is joining the mages guild is the only chance to lull their vigilance? (I guess I killed a couple of them in the Arrow of Extrication quest - can I still join them? The simpliest thing is try and do it, I know, but guys, have mercy! I'm having this whole day ahead before I can come back to playing and need a calming assurance from you :p )
Lytha on 15/2/2007 at 08:29
Joining their guild is definitely a good idea. Not only can you then feed on a whole lot of them in their local Guildhalls and in the Mages Quarter of the University (you had only the Archmage at your disposal for that), but also you can craft your own spells. For instance a (Charm 100, 3-5 seconds, on touch) spell which will make the guards forgive and forget any of your transgressions, if applied properly... as long as your bounty is relatively small. Or a (Fortify Acrobatics, self) skill which will allow you to keep the Boots of Sprinheel Jack if you use it at the appropriate time during the Great Heist. Or a set of (Feather 100, 120 secs, self) spells which you can stack on yourself to avoid the overencumberance problem for long enough to reach the next merchant or your house. :)
And as a Mage, you can curse some 0 weight clothing item and avoid the murder-count for the Dark Brotherhood by placing it into the pockets of your victims and some patience, harr harr. :ebil:
If you killed the mage during the Arrow of Extrication quest, it shouldn't matter - as long as you weren't an Associate with them at that point. Even if you were (and that was your first exclusion from the guild for an offense), you can get back in. Then you should have a quest in your questlog which directs you to someone to talk with to get back in, I think.
Raminus Polus will be in the lounge of the zentral tower of the University during the day and the early afternoon (until around 23:00 or even 0:00, I think) --that's the only room normally accessable for non-mages without committing the crime of tresspassing, the one in the 1st floor of the tower--, so no real need to break into the Archmage's room anymore - these assaults on the archmage might quite upset him and the other members of the Mages Council, if they catch you.
The display case with the soulgems should be in the lobby (not the council room and not the archmage's quarter) as well. It's probably locked with a hard or very hard lock though for non-mages. The lobby was usually empty for me after 1:30 until early morning.

I knew it! I knew it!!! :D
And thanks for very precious advises! Sounds she makes when hit by sunlight become more and more unbearable each time :(
Girl, look at what I have done to you! :(
Lytha on 15/2/2007 at 09:43
She screams all the time while out in the sunlight?
I'd call that another huge reason for getting rid of vampirism quickly.
But seriously. Look at one of the two vampires-in-disguise-as-normal-citizens in the Imperial City. Then, compare their look with that face of a hag that your character gained (even at only 25% vampirism!)... I wish to know how they're managing to hide their ugly faces so well, as they look quite normal in comparison.
