You have to have it cured before you get the dream, after you get the dream and have the red eyes and all that you have to go the long way (which I haven't done yet, so I don't know what it is.)

Unless you cure yourself within 24 hours, then there is only one way.
And thats the long, hard and timeconsuming way. Or loading a savegame ;)
It's not a 24 hour limit. You need to Rest (Waiting may be enough) 3 times, on 3 different days, after getting Porphyric Hemophilia before you turn into a vampire.

I finally got through that quest, which is a pain in the ass, especially as the game forced me to become a vampire, no matter where I slept on the continent.
There are grand soul gems in several places, the mages guild in the empirial city in a locked case, in several of the other mages guilds, as well as for sale from merchants in most of the cities, but most importantly, there is one right inside the withces cabin through the south fireplace hatch.
After that you have to get all these damn ingredients, some of which are in oblivion, some are in merchants shops, and you also have to kill a vampire, the witch tells you where he is.
So yeah, Oy it's a lot of work, but I can finally get back to the main quest without burning in the daylight.

Some of the ingredients from Oblivion are sold by vendors so don't think you're screwed if you've already closed the gates.

Being a vampire is a pain (in the neck?)
So far I've got the nightshade, argonian blood and vampire ashes that she needs. All the garlic seems to have disappeared or I can't remember where I kept seeing it before, and the bloodgrass stuff will just have to wait.
It is quite awesome feeding on people, though.
However, the latest tragedy to strike my character is the eventual death of Prior Maborel's Paint Horse. Now I have to fork out for my own horse.
RyushiBlade on 4/4/2006 at 11:40
I think my horse was poisoned once. I was low on health so I waited an hour. When I awoke, my horse fell out from under me, dead as a doornail.
Garlic? Most food stuffs are found inside sacks. Also check people's dinner tables. It shouldn't be too hard to find at all.

Try inns and whatnot for regular foodstuffs like garlic.
NeoPendragon on 4/4/2006 at 19:22
Alchemy shops sell ingredients.
Fingernail on 6/4/2006 at 08:01
Yes they do, but it's still a bit of a lottery.
Well, I did finally cure my vampirism.
Cardel on 8/4/2006 at 13:05
The only problem with buying from shops is that the shopkeepers tend to tell you to go away if you havent drank blood, and the Vampire's Charm spell half the time doesnt work. Man, the times I had waiting 24 hours just to get that thing running...
Aside from that, the useful thing about finishing the quest is
you can get more bottles of the stuff if you contract it again
