Well, my breton girl got infected while doing the Azura quest, she was level 18 at that point. I already had a stock of empty grand soulgems and other goods. So, I deliberately went off into the nearby oblivion gate and some more dungeons instead of casting cure disease.
She doesn't look as horrible as the woodelf did. I did the "cure for vampirism" quest as quickly as possible anyway though, but then I didn't drink my own potion.
25% vampirism is actually indeed helpful. For instance - you know those spider daedra things with their paralysing little baby spiders? No worries for a vampire. And for the Great Heist, I actually went to 50% for the stealth bonus.
But there are issues. Or rather bugs.
1. occasionally, the face becomes, well... disfigured. I'm not talking about the "vampire/Ramses II-face", I'm talking about a defiguration of the face structure itself. She's quite gaunt with a relatively thin face and relatively big eyes. In the disfigured state, she suddenly looks obese and the eyes become smaller. It's not the default breton face. It's something different and worse - almost like a gender-change. That happens quite a lot while the game loads a zone, or right after I launch it. A load of a save where the face was normal can cure this bug, but it irritates me a lot.
edit: this disfigured face structure remains when I drink the cure potion. That means, the "vampire hag face" gets disfigured by the bug, and then the normal face is corrupted too.
2. It seems that the fortify acrobatics of vampirism has made it impossible for me to gain the 50-points skill perk in acrobatics, ever. My acrobatics was at 49 when I became a vampire, and I gained a lot more acrobatics points by now, because I leveled to 20 by acrobatics. 50 points was IIRC "block+jump = roll/dodge"; doesn't work now at 62 (52+5(vamp)+5(ring of gray)). When I'll get rid of vampirism and the ring, I'll still be at >50 acrobatics, so the levelup message will never pop up, so the skill perk is probably lost. :erg:
3. The "cure" quest was totally buggy. I had the cure in my pocket, went to Skingrad, talked with the steward. She said: "follow me", so I did. She went into the courtyard and then stopped. When I asked her about it, she told me to follow her, but she wouldn't move. I left her alone for a while and roamed a bit through the private sections of the castle, returned, and after the 3rd return to her, she finally opened the secret door. Wtf. Might've been because I had the "lost histories of tamriel" active, of course.
Next step of this quest was also buggy. I returned after 24 hours to meet the count for my reward. I talked to the steward. She said: "wait here", and went out, into the courtyard... into Skingrad... out of Skingrad... towards the Imperial City. Finally, she found a crossing on the road (next to ruin with Umbra) and stopped moving, confused. No idea what that was about, but I'm glad I had a save from before that.
And finally, an issue, not a bug:
4. Waiting is ruled out. "If I wait now, I'll turn into 50% or worse, and there's nobody asleep nearby." That makes the schedules of the NPCs so much more annoying.
So.. 25% is indeed useful, if your attributes aren't maxed out yet. 50% was amusing - walk through a sunny afternoon at 50% and admire the sights, hehe (casting the minor healing breeze.) I'll probably stick with it for 1 more level, then my natural speed approaches 95, so the +5speed by vampirism would be trouble for more levelups.

Hehe, the above reminds me of my vampyrism-diseased characters ventures as he could be seen at broad daylight, jumping across the roofs of Bruma, casting healspells as fast as he could before all the skin peeled off because of the sunburn.
Although a fun powerplay method, it's just too bad there's no sunscreen lotion in the game. :D

I can no longer stand it. You can't imagine what a madness it can turn into when your game is devided in two languages - spoken part in english, written - in russian. :wot: And this is called localized version!
Because all the locations names on the map are translated into russian, I don't have a slightest idea where I'm being guided to when advised to search for those soul gems, except known places.
-Calindil at the Mystic Emporium in the Market District has one, - got 1 there
-Alves Uvenim at the Leyawiin Mages Guild has one that can be pickpocketed (for example, while she is sleeping). - got 1 there either
-You can steal one from Melisande's basement (accessible through the fireplace next to her bed) - 1
-There is one available in nearby Squandered Mine while you are on this quest. -
-There is one available in the Crayfish Steep zone of nearby Crayfish Cave.-
-There is one in the Arch-Mage's Lobby of the Arcane University. It is in an unlocked display case along with two more Grand Soul Gems that are not empty. - got that one
-There is one in an unlocked display case in the Mage Quarters of the Arcane University at the bottom of the staircase on the left as you enter. - I am not allowed to enter there, I think, even as a member of the guild.
-The Chorrol Mages Guild has a few in locked display cases. - neither is empty.
The last one gem is all I need but it seems to become an inexecutable chore because of the goodm translation :(

If you don't like vampirism then just don't get infected. Sneak around the vampire freaks and hit them from behind with a good weapon and you will do critical damage. If they die while unawares there is no chance of getting infected, best way to go. :thumb:
