Okay, I'm stuck and I hope someone can help me out here...
I'm in the Imperial Cult and have to get Cunius Pelelius, the Caldera Mine boss, to pay a large sum he promised to the cult. He's rumored to be smuggling ebony to pay off his debts. The only way to get proof is to talk to the slaves at the mine. Problem is, I set them free some time ago. One of the slaves said she would stick around for a while, but she's gone like the others. I've tried to persuade the miners and other people at the mine to talk, but nothing works.
So what can I do?:erg:

Reset the slaves somehow? (I don't know how, though!)

I think the slave you're referring to is a Khajit lady called Dahleena; I talked to her a few days ago about the dodgy goings on at Caldera Ebony mine (as part of a Great House quest) and she seemed to know quite a lot. This is what she says about corruption at the mines:
You want evidence? Dahleena tells you where to get it. Odral Helvi has a chest on the second floor of the Governor's Hall. Unlock the chest and you will find a book. A record book. Bring this book back to your friend and watch his eyes when he smiles.
But bear in mind this was in regard to a Hlaalu quest, not the Imperial Cult one-many of Morrowind's quests overlap between factions, so finding the book might work for you, but it might not.

Thanks Jordana. I'll go take a look at that chest.
