Cumulative Texture Pack. - by John P.

I don't know if there's still any interest in this, but I thought I'd mention that I've updated my textures and put them all into one single installer (hence 'cumulative').
This installer is compatible with the European versions of the game(it will automatically put the textures in the correct folder, when you choose the language of your game version).
The installer is kind of a 'beta' release still, so there
may be bugs in it.
So if you want to install it, be prepared you may have to reinstall the game afterwords(in a worst case scenario) because of a bug. I haven't found any bugs myself yet though. Also beware that loading times and on some systems also performance will be affected negatively.

The "manual" to the installer is in the installer itself(the Readme), and although it's a lot of text, I recommend going through it to 'get' how it works etc.
The 'Comparison' section only shows a fraction of the textures and choices. I'll try to put up thumbnails of all the choices later.

Quite a large amount of updates there. Might make me want to play through IW again. Might. Playing that, for me, was like nails scratching on a chalkboard. Still, they look great.

Outstanding work!

Hm, I had some problems with it, though. Many of the character textures were missing in the game completely [female Alex, Klara, Nassif,... in fact, the soldier and janitor were the only ones I saw working in the test run] and the interface background texture was this strikingly orange/red noise that contrasted painfully with the interface itself. On purpose or bug? If there are interface changes on purpose, could they possibly be in a separate group so you don't have to use them to have high resolution environment textures? Even functional I don't really mind the original interface design and see no need to modify it. :)

Actually, it sounds like it didn't work at all for you.
What version of the game do you have?
US or one of the European versions?
If you have one of the European versions, did you choose your language on the first page of the installer?
If you have the US version, did you pick some other language?
Stupid questions perhaps, but I need to know.

Well, the security force's skins _were_ high resolution, no doubt about that.
European version, I stuck with the default on all choices. :)
I can give you path details and make some screenshots if you wish?

-Some of the textures in the game are actually high res. already. For some reason, some NPCs 'kept' their high res. textures and the textures for the main characters were cut down. So the high res. textures you see now are the originals.
What language version do you have(use) though? Italian, German, French, Spanish? UK English?
Sounds to me like either the installer has a little flaw that has made it 'confused', or you didn't choose your language when you first opened my installer.
-Could you take a look in Deus Ex - Invisible War\Content\DX2\Textures\DynamicallyLoaded and see if my textures are placed there?
There will be some textures there from Ion Storm too, but if you find files called alexdmaled1.dds and alexdfemd1.dds, that means my textures have been placed there.
In that case, I'm pretty sure you didn't choose the correct language in my installer.
If so, you can select all the .dds files in the DynamicallyLoaded folder, and copy them over into the language folder of your game version.
So if you have the German version, that would mean to copy them over into Deus Ex - Invisible War\Content\DX2\Textures\DynamicallyLoaded\german, and if you have the UK English version, it would be Deus Ex - Invisible War\Content\DX2\Textures\DynamicallyLoaded\english and so on.
See if that works.
Are your folder names(path) in English, like I posted here, or are they in your language(if your language isn't English, that is)?
Uncia on 7/11/2004 at 01:14
Hmm, the files were indeed not copied to the language subdirectory. However, my copy of the game is the English version (with the \english subdiretory) and the installer choice selected [and indeed the only choice :weird: ] was US English; I just reinstalled it to make sure.

What operating system are you running?
On the first page of my installer, there's a dropdown list of all the languages, but I've heard before that Win2000 has problems displaying the dropdown list properly.
If it does work, you have to click the down arrow ro the right of the dropdown list to make it.... drop down.
Then in your case you should probably choose UK (english).
Uncia on 7/11/2004 at 12:41
Indeed, Win2k. The drop-down is just that single choice, and one extra pixel of empty list beneath. *g*
Also, while the game is English I'm not, so knowing whether the game is US English or UK English is... erm... nontrivial. :p
