Then you are missing out on the fun of it. You really know you are good when you can steal braces right off someones teeth. Damnit now I'm going to have to read this thread. And then tomorrow read what I said because I won't remember.
Edit: Side by side my hairy ass. The Brits obviously don't hire out website designers.

Well now that's a whole other thing.* Good luck getting braces for free, they shall forever be ridiculously overpriced, most likely.
*They always squirm too much.

You've never been over here before have you? ;)

Thats damn funny, MsLedd. :laff:
But seriously, I've been blessed with perfect teeth. I did have to pay the price when I was younger. I had baby teeth that pointed in every direction 'cept straight up or down. Once my adult teeth came in though, they were right were they should've been. No braces needed. :cheeky:
And England would be a right jolly place to visit one day. I wouldn't really want to live there for too long, but it'd be nice to visit. I feel the same way about NYC actually...

Are braces commonplace and a rite of passage (at least for middle class children) in Britain and other industrialized countries with socialized medicine, as they are in the US?
I'm told orthodontics is a lucrative venture in the byzantine US medical system, since it's considered "cosmetic" and therefore not subject to HMO cost control. Or something.

I'm British and I had braces on my teeth. Courtesy of the NHS, too.

I'm British and I'm about the only person I know who didn't have braces at some point during the school years.

I also avoided braces. The practical reason the orthodontist I saw gave me is that it would mess up my bite. My teeth are a little wonky round the back but they bite together properly.
