Hi!
I Deus Ex 2 I want a crystal of visibility just like in Thief 1 & 2!
So it's a lot easyer to find out a guard sees you or not!
Farewell!

Easy, if someone sees you, they shoot, run and/or talk ;-)

Dutch King, I think you meant it's a lot easier to tell if they will see you ;).
And yes, I agree, DX2 should have one.
Dragonclaw on 24/4/2002 at 14:54
I know how it's meant, but you see, I never needed it...
There were usually enough boxes or corners to stick behind, and if not, I used my trusty sniper rifle :)
I can imagine, though, that for different gameplays it could be useful. But after all, I think it adds to the atmosphere. Will he see you or not? Another nerve-crashing 5 seconds until a bullet ends your question...

No visibility meter for the sake of realism...
Chade on 25/4/2002 at 06:01
A visibility meter isn't that unrealistic ....
Getting caught becasue you can't tell accurately how dark you are is ...
Amorpheus on 25/4/2002 at 13:48
Uh, no. You can't know if a guard will see you when you're even only slightly visible. Another might walk past you when you hide in a bright corner just because he has other things on his mind. You will be able see the shadows, the lighting on the weapons - the Unreal Warfare engine will do fine to let you know well enough how dark you are.
Dragonclaw on 25/4/2002 at 21:07
Same here...
I actually think a crystal of visibility IS unrealistic, I haven't seen one yet.
Not knowing if someone will notice you or not, certainly IS realistic... You can see how "dark" you are, on your weapons, looking at the surrounding, and so on. You will, however, not be able to say what shade is "enough" and which not...

I just hope they have better lighting. Even when it was dark out, it was light out. It was hard to tell if you were hidden or not. More dynamic lighting (like that in Thief) would further the cause more then a simple visibility gem.
Perhaps the lighting (or lack thereof) was because of his augmented vision (he did always wear sunglasses).

They have new lighting in place - one of the developers claimed it's about on par with Doom 3.... :weird:
