I've got Trent Reznor on the line. He'll do it for $70 and a place to crash next weekend.

I can't believe he bothered to weblink "USD." :p

It seems baiting is allowed on this forum.

Who's baiting?
Anyway - come up with a plan first. Do the legwork and find out how much it would take for a band / orchestra to play and see if you can get copyright clearance for the tracks. Then, and only then, come asking for money. I would probably contribute as I personally like (
http://remix.kwed.org/index.php?search=live) new versions of computer music but until you have something in place you're trying to sell an idea, nothing more.

You lost me there.

Just in case you're serious - Brethren and ZylonBane aren't baiting you. I'm sure they also want to see more details before pledging cash to some dream project.

I don't see any issue. Reasonable quality ~60 minutes album in a studio goes for 10 grands ; that's for a regular band, one that can't afford to tour in coach bus. How much is it going to cost for 2 minutes 15 seconds? It will likely cost more that the proportional 375 USD, but I think 500 USD would do the trick. I think that can get a decent band for a 2:15 remake. I guess a mediocre, but listenable, version can be made for half of that.
If I can't have a reasonable pledge from a hardcore forum, what hope is there from others to join in? Who think "Wow that MIDI sound awesome" beside the people in here? People plan parties then sell tickets ahead of time and if they see those sales don't do well, they cancel the event.

Yes - but having a plan in place is far better than just having an idea. People here might be interested in contributing but without a strategy in place your chances are zero.

I'm not going to spend 3 hours finding out exactly how to crowd-fund and which band can do the 2:15 MIDI remake for 500 USD. Anyway, wise bands would know the project will fail without a minimal pledge, so they're not even going to figure out their cost. I'm doing nothing if I can't get a 100 USD pledge from SS fans ; if you can't see my POV, too bad.

Your idea is bordering on nonsensical. You can't just hand a MIDI file to a studio musician and say "Here, play this." There are issues to be resolved-- Converting the MIDI file to sheet music. Deciding what real-world instruments to use for the various MIDI instruments. Deciding whether it's even
possible for a human to play-- many MIDI files abuse the spec to generate unique audio effects. Acoustic or electronic instruments? SS1's music is heavily techno-influenced, so it would probably be best performed on a synthesizer keyboard. But if you're doing that, then why involve humans at all? Just plug the MIDI file into a high-quality synth and hit record. But, for whatever crazy reason, you did say you wanted video of this being performed (seriously?), so that means humans. So yeah, you'd be looking at paying someone who knows what they're doing to create sheet music from this MIDI file and adapting the song itself, that was only intended to be played by a perfect immortal machine, into something manageable by meat creatures. Then practice sessions. Then a recording session and studio fees. I'm guessing this would run a thousand (

minimum.
Or, for free, you can go to YouTube, search for System Shock remixes, and be happy with that.
