Hello All,
It's been a while since I've been here (work, dating, the usual distractions). I got a MacBook Pro laptop a few months ago and been working like hell to get some good games installed on it (World of Warcraft had me severally distracted, unfortunately). Good news is that I found a handy little app called CrossOver that runs apps w/out booting Boot Camp. Bad news is that System Shock 2 won't install. I get an error that says "This product cannot be installed on Windows NT due to a Microsoft DirectX6.1(tm) limitation." I checked their web site and came up with nothing. Is there anyone who has any experience with running System Shock 2 with CrossOver? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
acumen101
P.S. Happy New Year!

Please tell me if everything works, and how you did it. :)

Hey la0s,
I got it to install; I had to set up the bottle (Operating System "pseudo-emulation environment") to work under a Windows 98 environment. Despite the success of the install, System Shock 2 will not run. Since I couldn't get it to run, I thought it might need the patch. I was able to run the patch installer and got the latest SHTUP pack installed (Beta 6, I believe), but still no luck. I get no error messages so I have nothing to go on. Since I have to work tomorrow, I'll work on it next weekend.
