So there I was in the freedom base, minding my own business on the 2nd floor of the main building when I saw this.

Has anyone read anything about what kind of new creatures will make the game this time? I really hope they include half a dozen new ones, including the Illusionist and his pouch of controller brains.

This is Chimera - all vital organs of the thing are doubled and it was supposed to electroshock. In the Duty headquarters there is also the trophy of a Wild Cat.
Just yesterday I saw pictures of all cut out monsters and read their descriptions: Illusionist/Izlom, Wild Cat, Biurer, Zombie, and Chimera. The most horrible from them all was supposed to be Biurer I guess, as judging by its description it's the next step in evolution of Controller. And Zombie was supposed to be just like Thief zombie - final stage of stalker's zombification.
As far as I know no one from them will make it in CS, I read there will be some new monsters though.

The Burer, Zombie, Cat, and this funny thing with long arms are all added back in by some mods.

They may be added but I suppose they were cut out for a reason. They probably aren't finished in some way - either animation, or unique behaviour/AI wasn't ready, or something else ?

I think they pulled them because they were really hard creatures to fight, IMO. The burers especially. They will completely wreck your shit if you don't have any cover to hide behind, and can psionically block all your shots. The only really effective ways to deal with them I've found is to either time your attacks to coincide with when they drop their shield, or hope they get distracted by another enemy so you can shoot them from behind.
The cats are really aggressive, and will chase you all the way across a map unlike dogs which will give up the chase after a while.
The chimeras I fought were not that hard, very much like pseudodogs, but I suspect their attacks weren't complete.
The izlom didn't have any unique behaviors, it just acted like a zombie and tried to melee.
The zombies seemed to have placeholder animations, very cartoony and awkward.
Now, these observations are just from playing some mods, but they definitely had reasons for pulling them from vanilla Stalker.

Well, that explains it then. I haven't played any mods so far.
Link me to the pics will ya?

Which is the Burer? Is that the dwarf/babushka thing? I havent run into any of those that deflect bullets yet. I've only played AMK though.
The Chimeras in AMK are nasty. They can see for miles and will charge and you better put them down early, and there's usually two of them together.
The proper zombies come out in Wild Territory at night in AMK too. They're cool. Really old school George Romero style. When they see you they reach out with their hands and limp extra fast in your direction.
Some things didn't really need to be cut for any reason I can see, but they do tend to make the place more crowded and combat heavy. Whatever might be wrong with it, the vanilla game had things better spread out than most mods and it helped the sense of space and solitude, I think.

Yes, Burer is the dwarf. It has psi ability similar to Controller.
I don't think they were removed just because they're tough - modders have proved that hitpoints of creatures can be set rather easily as well as vulnerability of the body parts. AMK team made uber-resistant Bloodsuskers afterall.
Perhaps the devs came to conclusion there are just too many various types of monsters for the size of the zone in final version or they would disbalance the ALife ecology (mods experimenting with A-life have disbalanced the ecology alright).

The ecology was pretty dead to begin with though, I mean it worked but it was way too unnoticeable, I think AMK at least does an ok job with it, even if it did make Agroprom the most dangerous area in the game towards the end, that was kinda cool.
