I can't say I've read anything by McCarthy, actually. Someone was just telling me last week that I should see The Road, it definitely sounds right up my alley. I probably cribbed the technique from someone somewhere, I know it's been used for stream-of-consciousness writing styles.

I stand corrected then. However, considering your interests, you should really drop absolutely everything and read The Road.

We released the first single ("single") from our debut full-length. Yup. The whole thing will be released on the 21st. There's nothing like working hard and planning for over a year on a project that I'm not sure I even have confidence in anymore. But here it is anyway!

Really sounds pro.
For some reason I was a little reminded of Toad the Wet Sprocket... Something about the sound. (I like that sound so it's a good thing.)

Thanks! I'm not familiar with their work, but I suppose there could be some indirect influences...
Anyway, the whole album is streaming now (and will be purchasable on the 21st):

If any TTLGers want a complimentary digital copy, just send me a PM :)

I'm resurrecting this thread because I released an album when I was in my early 20s and I think the label that released it is now defunct, so now I can give it away for
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16313091/Faetal%20-%20%5Bsic%5D.rar) FREE.
It's not very good, my vocals are of very variable quality, but there are some nice songs on there and I'm proud of it to some extent. The track called Phosphor Sky was in Project Gotham Racing 3 on the alternative electronica station.
Anyway, it's free.
(the genre is sort of electronic / rock / industrial - so probably skip it if you're not into Depeche Mode, The Cure, NIN)

Is that you singing on the whole thing? I like. This is really, really cool.
What was the album called and who was the label?
PS. Funny thing. My Windows Media Player has a picture from The Infinite Monkey Cage on it for the image for audio files for some reason and its Brian Cox on there, another musician/scientist.

Yeah, the credits are roughly:
Me: Vocals, guitars, programming & production
Tim: Additional guitars
Glad you like :)
We spent £1000 of our own money recording it and another £1000 getting CDs pressed, so after all of that, fuck it - I'm just glad for people to hear it.
Here it is on Amazon: (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/sic-Faetal/dp/B0006V77L8) the label it was originally released on were called (
http://www.wasp-factory.com/) Wasp Factory, but the rights were passed on to (
http://www.lineoutrecords.com/) Lineout Records when WF folded (which was unfortunately not long after we signed to them, hence we never really got pushed the way we would have liked). I believe Lineout are still operating as an online shop, but aren't very actively signing and promoting new acts.
Track listing in order should be:
1. Liquid Hate
2. 21
3. Like a God
4. Bad Orb
5. Darkness
6. Sadistic
7. Phosphor Sky
8. Can Anybody Hear Me?
9. Losing Control
10. Divide by Zero
(listening back to it I can describe it as "some really nice songs marred by '80s sounding drums and whiny vocals")

There is some great stuff on there. I don't like it so much when it gets thrashy/heavy but you lied to me man - you do electronica very well. Remember that Red Shift track I linked to? You could easily do that stuff.

Thanks :)
I think the heavier side of things was me being influenced by the industrial scene I was hanging about in. My recent / current stuff is a lot less concerned with sounding angry.
I'm definitely up for giving your stuff a go once I've handed in.
I plan on getting a PC upgrade and then re-building my studio for a fresh batch of writing.
