Solid work on the trailer, Muz. Hoping for the next indie version of Animal Kingdom? :D
Heh, that'd be nice. I thinks it's more in the vein of Payback meets Deathwish 2, or maybe picture a Steven Seagal flick where Steve plays a crook and doesn't really know any fancy martial arts.
(really should comment on the tunes and pics in here one day)

I did (
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/405237) this little drum and base remix of M. Jackson's Dirty Diana song. There are already plenty of them in all genres so I thought adding one on top of those won't do any harm.
I know this thread is relatively old, but I just wanted to share this because it's not like the usual crap that I do. Or at least I don't think it is.
Is it creative?... A little? I don't know.
Anyway, if you like the song you can download it from that page. It's already at 320 kbps.

I was never a fan of Michael Jackson, but this is worse. All the interesting parts are from the mangled original whereas your contribution is BAOWBABAOW and BUMTSHIGGE-BUMTSHIGGE-BUMTSHIGGE-BUM. I remain thoroughly unimpressed.

Mangled original? I used an acapella version of the song and redid the instrumental part. But please give me more constructive criticism such as BAOWBABAOW and BUMTSHIGGE, because it really helps.

Sure. First off you will need to create your own samples instead of using some cookie cutter sound database. Then you will need to arrange them in ways that aren't preconfigured electro beat patterns.
But most importantly you will have to listen and understand what is great about some song and music in general before you cover it in plastic wrapper and tin foil.
The original Dirty Diana carries emotions through tempi changes, changes of loudness, the way Jackson sings suppressed in the verses and desperately screams out in the chorus. He's a torn man. And all of these emotions are supported and transported through the music.
Your version carries absolutely no emotions, except Look what I did in some musicprogram!
That's just not enough to capture anyone's attention.
Start playing from your fucking heart. Have you ever been torn between two women? One that is the 'right' girl and one you just know is going to use you and then throw you away. And yet you run for her, destroying your own life, you can't help it. Try to express that feeling in music, their different characters and you in between on a trip to self destruction. If you manage that, it won't matter whether you're covering Jackson or playing your own song on a ukulele. Because it will mean something.

I make my own drum sounds, synths, strings, effects, everything. The voice, I extracted from the original song and sampled it so it fits with the new bpm. Since it's drum and base it follows the rule of having repeating patterns; you know, just like most drum and base songs out there.
Now, of course I won't reach the same emotion as the original song. The fact that I changed the genre of the song already makes it harder for that to happen, which is why I went for a more dance-ish/fun to listen to tune instead of trying to reinvent the whole thing.
Lastly, if you'd take time to glance at other songs I've done (same site, one click away, on my profile name) you might realize I don't just "do stuff in my musicprogram because it's cool". I'm not asking you to change you're opinion, just to not bash on things that you don't seem to know about me or ways that I do my songs.
With that said, I guess I should have added in my original post the fact that if you don't listen to drum and base in general, you more than likely will not like the tune.

The genre is called Drum and Bass but your track has nothing to do with it. DnB is not about repetitive patterns or dance-ish/fun baowbabaow-basslines but breakbeats and a heavy bass. This is Drum and Bass:

What you have is a generic disco/dance cover of Dirty Diana. And yeah, I see you wanted it to be fun, but Dirty Diana isn't a fun song. It's about a man who knows he's doing the wrong thing but can't help it. That's what makes it great. You're brushing against the very fabric of this song.

In Xeniths defense I thought his remix had a definite DnB vibe, whilst perhaps not wholly within the genre. The bass is not great though, need a much better bass sound.
I always imagined this song was about Diana Ross.

I'd like to add that I don't find any MJ song so great to be beyond covering. Here's a pretty good electro remix of Dirty Diana.

As you will note the remixer completely deconstructs the source but still works with it, building up the pressure - letting go just a bit, into a loop - more pressure - climax. That's how it goes.
