Yes, the Daily Mail is a notoriously right-wing British newspaper that is renowned for hating asylum-seekers, immigrants, feminists, liberals, gays, Europe, socialists, single-mothers and environmentalists...
I came across the nursery rhyme story while listening to CBC's current affairs show "As It Happens". Although the whole piece was presented as a charming English kerfuffle between annoyed parents and hapless school boards, the one fellow they interviewed could barely conceal his venom. I found it a bit puzzling, given how trivial the "problem" was, but now things make a bit more sense.

The best thing to appear in this thread so far.
DO LESBIANS INFECT BRITAIN'S SWANS WITH AIDS?
DOES POLITICAL CORRECTNESS INFECT THE BRITISH PEOPLE WITH AIDS?
WILL IMMIGRANTS GIVE THE COUNTRYSIDE CANCER?
WILL TONY BLAIR STRIP YOUR PENSION OF ALL DIGNITY?
WILL THE E.U. INFECT THE MEMORY OF DIANA WITH AIDS?
DO GAYS GIVE BRITAIN'S SWANS CANCER?

Just to pre-empt something nickolae is probably trying to say:

So fuck the damn creationists, doomsday get my gun
2nd law doesn't apply!
Also, whatever problems currently lie in the theory of evolution, absolutely none of it supports Intelligent Design. Why? NOT SCIENCE. Got that yet? NOT SCIENCE. Thus NOT AN ALTERNATIVE.
This topic gets me far too worked up. :(

It works me up to.
Evolution is not a testable theory. You cannot duplicate it with expirements in a lab.
No one has observed Macro Evolution in nature.
As time increases, Entropy increases.
Matter cannot be created inside the natural law.
Both I.D. and Evolution are beliefs. Neither of them know the answer for sure. It's all based on assumptions and educated guesses.

Hey, dickheads! Stop being dickheads!
I don't know if I qualify as moderate anything seeing as how I'm all crazy.
Oh, and my favorite Daily Mail headline: COULD LESBIANS IMPREGNATE HOUSING PRICES?
Convict don't try to use Dutch to defend creationism. Here's what he has to say on the subject:

If your religion says something that conflicts with objective evidence, your religion is wrong. That's the case whether you're an Indian who wants to dispose of Kennewick Man because you believe your tribe has always lived there, or a Christian who believes in a young earth, or a Mormon who believes the Indians descended from the Ten Tribes of Israel, or a Muslim who rejects evolution
Quote Posted by Steve Dutch
Conservative Christianity can never be intellectually defensible as long as it rejects evolution, any more than a mathematics class can be intellectually defensible if it teaches that 2 + 2 = 5, or an astronomy class can be intellectually defensible if it teaches that the earth is flat, or a chemistry class can be intellectually defensible if it denies the existence of atoms. On this issue conservative Christians are just plain wrong and no amount of Bible thumping, Scripture quotations, or hostile rhetoric will change that. Speaking theologically, you can claim victory in Jesus' name for the next million years, but God will not honor a lie.

No, one is a theory that has survived testing. Sure we can't test reptiles becoming birds in a lab. Same with astronomy, we can't test stars and quasars in a lab either. You going to reject that too? You just have to observe what's already there.
So you have a scientific theory, and a religious belief. They're two entirely different ways of looking at the world. Whatever you believe, has nothing to do with the validity of a scientific theory. And all the science in the world won't change matters if you believe something else happened.
Also Entropy increases in a closed system. Which earth isn't.

intresting how pretty much all life just "happened" ,in geological terms, "overnight".
The Cambrian Explosion was most likely caused by large-scale extinctions. The rapid change in the environment would allow the exploration of patterns that were not previously viable - for a while, almost anything has a chance at surviving. Some of the new patterns reached remain viable when the system starts to stabilise again, eventually outcompeting the intermediates and the patterns that turn out to be non-viable in the new system. Evolution can be greatly influenced by external events - there's no advantage to further changes in species that have found their local maxima, so change is eventually limited by changes in other species (evolution, extinction, and introduction of new species).
